EMPLOYMENT and PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Sr. Project Manager – First American Title Insurance (1/2008 – 10/2009). Originally brought in as a consultant in June, 2007 to manage the migration of the Cleveland datacenter to the corporate datacenter located in Santa Ana, CA. Subsequently became a full time employee in the Corporate Information Security Office managing initiatives for implementing database monitoring for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, developing Application Vulnerability Assessment standards for secure application development, conducting Corporate Policy Compliance reviews with all business units across the enterprise and implementing Data Leakage Protection programs. Also managed development of an in-house developed customer service issue tracking system.

Principal – The Rallus Group Inc. (5/2002 – 1/2008) Responsible for sales support, project initiation and managing delivery of all Information Technology related consulting services.

DATACENTER RELOCATION – (6/2007 – 12/2007)

Provided Project Management and guidance to migrate the workload from the regional Cleveland datacenter into the Corporate datacenter located in Santa Ana, CA. The workload consisted of over 70 servers including Windows and HP Unix based systems. In addition to migrating the Production workload, I also led the follow-on project to design and construct the Disaster Recovery configuration in the Corporate datacenter located in Dallas, TX.

LEGACY SYSTEM EMPLOYEE TRAINING PROGRAM – (7/2006 – 12/2006)

Developed and taught subject modules; Introduction to Computer Internals, Business Analysis Fundamentals, Relational Database concepts and Networking Fundamentals for a large Bank’s efforts to internally develop legacy systems support staff.

CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE – (10/2003 – 12/2004)

Provided Project Management and leadership to institute Systems Configuration Management processes and disciplines for a large Property and Casualty Insurance company. In addition to source code management, processes were developed for release management, promotion of systems through the quality testing life cycle and automated deployment.

CORPORATE COLLEGE INITIATIVE, CUYAHOGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE – (12/2002- 4/2003)

Participated as a member of the quality team reviewing existing plans and making recommendations for all of the infrastructure components to support the new western campus. Also wrote a white paper discussing strategic planning recommendations for delivery of training to non-campus environments. Follow-on activities include participation in the Organizational Delivery Team responsible for defining new processes for coordinated delivery of credit and non-credit training under the Corporate College initiative.

Director of Consulting Services, CGI Information Systems & Management Consulting – (10/2000 to 5/2002)

CGI acquired DRT Systems from Deloitte & Touche on 10/00. As Director of Consulting Services I was responsible for managing all service delivery functions for the Ohio Valley area. Responsibilities included developing and managing operating business plans that averaged approximately $6M in annual revenue, responsible for all consulting staff career planning and training, and also providing billable services at appropriate opportunities. CGI acquired IMR International effective 10/01 and the US operations were integrated with the IMR management team. Subsequently, the Cleveland office was disbanded.

Principal, DRT Systems International (Deloitte & Touche) – (12/92 - 10/00)

As a Managing Consultant for the Cleveland office I was responsible for managing all delivery services for the Ohio Valley area. The Cleveland business unit consisted of locations in Independence and Blue Ash, Ohio. I was responsible for indirectly managing as many as 80 consultants with annual revenues of approximately $6M.

ECOMMERCE ARCHITECTURE, LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE – For Electronic-Commerce initiative, developed architecture that provides the capability for delivery of transactions to a destination application in the format supported by the destination regardless of the source.

COMMUNITY HEALTH INFORMATION NETWORK, HEALTH COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS – Architect for the overall design of a Community Health Information Network for this subsidiary of Trigon (Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia). The “communications hub” needed to be able to communicate with providers, payers and laboratories in the native formats of the subscribers. In addition to designing a messaging management system with translation capabilities, ANSI X12 based envelopes were developed to handle clinical data since no standards based EDI transactions were available.

GENOMICS KNOWLEDGE PLATFORM, SECANT TECHNOLOGIES – As Product Support Manager duties consisted of developing the Alpha, Beta and Production rollout programs as well as Problem management, training, documentation and other deliverables not directly related to product development.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT TRANSITION MANAGER – Contracted to provide facilities management of the data center and desktop support for British Petroleum’s Cleveland, Ohio facilities. As Transition Manager I was responsible for hiring all operational and support personnel, planning, establishing service level commitments, selecting the full time facilities manager and performing on going quality assurance for the life of the contract.

LEGACY EXTENSION STRATEGY, GREAT AMERICAN INSURANCE – Architect and Project Manager for development of strategy for extending the life of legacy mainframe applications by implementing an integration framework.

EDI DEPLOYMENT, NIFCO MANUFACTURING – Project Manager responsible for coordination of the rollout of EDI and Shipping Automation as part of an Oracle ERP implementation for this Automotive Parts Manufacturer.

THE REAL ESTATE EXCHANGE, INSIGNIA VIRTUAL REALTY – For a start up “dot com” venture, acted as the Director of Technology Operations in an interim period until they could hire a permanent employee. Responsibilities included establishing support procedures, development of data center budgets, project management for all infrastructure initiatives and staff management of Unix System Administrators, DBA’s, Network Engineers, and Configuration Management (Build Engineers), and Help desk personnel.

KNOWLEDGE PLATFORM INITIATIVE, DRT Systems – Project Manager responsible for development of requirements, identification of processes and HR related programs to initiate a Knowledge Management capability within the company.

CORPORATE RELOCATION, ADVANCED ELASTOMERS – Overall Project Manager coordinating the relocation and consolidation of Corporate Headquarters from St. Louis to Akron, Oh. Efforts included redesign and implementation of consolidated Office and e-mail for all employees, physical design of the new data center and supervision of construction related to data center and office cabling.

NETWORK STRATEGY, KAISER PERMANENTE – As Project Manager and Senior Architect, performed a networking requirement study that included strategic plans to consolidate disparate data and voice networks with capabilities to address future video conferencing requirements.

Outsourcing Product Manager, Bridgestone Software – (9/91 to 12/92)

Bridgestone Software was a wholly owned subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation. The mission for Bridgestone Software was to provide IT services to the Bridgestone family of companies as well as outside clients. As Product Manager for Outsourcing Services, I was responsible for managing service levels and customer support for clients that were serviced out of the Firestone Data Center in Akron, Ohio. In addition to daily customer service responsibilities, I was responsible for providing sales support and project management for all migrations into the data center. Bridgestone Software was sold to Deloitte & Touche effective 12/92.

TSC – Principal Consultant – (8/90 – 9/91)

Responsible for the Network design and rollout of a Point of Sale System for Firestone Mastercare auto service stores. Responsibilities included managing network, hardware and site preparation vendors for 1552 locations across the US.

IBM – Project Manager (8/85 – 8/90)

Project Manager 950 project, IBM for Sears Communications – Responsible for the planning and implementation of the nationwide equal access network that was developed to support the credit authorization for the rollout of the Discover Card. Project involved installing an IBM 9751 pbx in every LATA in the continental United States as a Class 4 Central office Switch. The savings were estimated at a reduction of cost from $.08 per call using 1-800 numbers to $.03 per call for every credit card swipe processed in the US.

CNA Insurance – Manager of Teleprocessing (12/80 to 8/85)

I held three different lateral positions while at CNA each with increasing responsibilities. The first position was Manager of the Installation Support unit. I managed eight engineers with responsibility for coordinating all of the IS hardware installations within the headquarters building in Chicago and 62 branches located across the continental US. Unit responsibilities included coordination of site preparation work with electrical contractors, coordination of vendor service personnel for vendor-installed equipment, coordination with telecommunications vendors and configuration and installation of customer installed equipment. Accomplishments included building a new Regional Headquarters buildings and data centers in Reading, PA and Nashville, TN. A facility was also constructed in Rockville, MD to support claims processing for all of the Mail handlers in the US. I designed and supervised the installation of a premises wiring distribution system for the 55 story building in Chicago prior to IBM or AT&T announcing their cabling systems. This facility reduced installation costs and cabling delays for all terminal equipment installations.

The next assignment was Manager of the Equipment Planning and Storage Management Group. This unit was comprised of 5 Hardware analysts that were responsible for all equipment purchase/lease selection and justification. The other 5 individuals in the unit were responsible for Storage Management. These responsibilities included setting up data bases, management of all backup jobs, allocation of disk space and development of the first VSAM catalog recovery system.

After another reorganization, all telecommunications functions were organized within one unit and I was assigned as manager of the Telecommunications Support Group. This unit was comprised of network analysts responsible for equipment selection, configuration and justification as well as the system programmers that provided support for VTAM and NCP gens. Major accomplishments during this assignment included acting as the Beta site for ITT Courier’s new line of 3270 compatible terminals and the later migration to ITT Courier 9700 terminals and controllers which involved the installation of 3200 terminals in 6 months across 62 branch locations in addition to the headquarters building in Chicago.

Continental Illinois National Bank – Systems Officer (12/79 to 12/80)

Senior Network Engineer working in the Network Control Center. In addition to daily operational support of the Banking network, I also managed the conversion from Buroughs to IBM 3600 Teller platform devices.

First National Bank of Chicago – Systems Engineer (12/78 to 12/79)

The primary project for the mini-computer support unit was the design and construction of a new data center to support the Money Transfer system computers running on Univac Varian Data Machines mini computers. This system included design and installation of a switching system to provide hot standby rollover to backup systems located in the main computer center and the development center located in another building. This level of redundancy was required prior to the later migration to Tandem Fault Tolerant systems when they became available.

Nixdorf Computer – District Support Specialist (12/75 to 12/78)

Entrex, later acquired by Nixdorf, provided Key-to-Disk distributed mini-computer based systems. As District Support Specialist, I provided second level support and training to 26 Field Engineers supporting systems installed in the Tri-state (Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana) area. Duties included on-call support to Field Engineers to support their trouble shooting and maintenance efforts, Travel to customer locations when required to provide on-site support, development of local training programs, tracking preventative maintenance programs, reporting on service level performance. In order to support the reporting requirements, I wrote a maintenance tracking system that was later adopted by other districts within the company.

Field Engineer, Sorbus – (7/73 to 12/75)

Sorbus was the largest 3rd party Hardware Maintenance organization in the US. As a Field Engineer, duties included performing preventative and remedial maintenance on IBM and other manufacturer’s computers, peripherals and communications equipment.
