Aircraft Avionics Technician

Responsible for keeping aircraft in peak operating condition, performing scheduled maintenance, making repairs, and completing inspections required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and/or manufacturer and/or operator. Responsible for performing maintenance, avionics, structures and modification duties for aircraft.

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the following:

• Maintenance, avionics and modification duties, including parts removal and installation on Embraer 140, CRJ 700, and Saab 340B turboprop aircraft;

• Line and hanger maintenance of avionics, including functional and operational checks, routine inspections, and troubleshooting and repairing problems by replacing worn or defective parts;

• Ensure all hangar and field team installation & maintenance activities are accomplished within assigned schedules while maintaining high standards;

• Read and understand wire schematics;

• Use of specialized tools and equipment;

• Safety and support activities;

• Tool control and calibration and ground support equipment maintenance;

• Repair and maintain components used for aircraft airframe and power plant;

• Examine and inspect engines or other components for cracks, breaks, or leaks using approved inspection methodology;

• Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects;

• Test engine and system operations, using testing equipment, and listens to engine sounds to detect and diagnose malfunctions;

• Remove engine from aircraft or installs engine, using hoist or forklift truck;

• Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components; and

• Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment;
