Matthew has a BFA from the Design+Technology department of the San Francisco Art Institute. SFAI is world renowned for their innovative curriculum. It was a mixture of programming, design, and how to make a statement within the context of a global community. Some of his instructors were heavily involved with events such as the Maker Faire, Ars Electronica, and SXSW. Speek is a leading API that lets developers build VoIP into their apps. Matthew's role was to get developers excited about Speek and build Speek into their projects. He was recruited into this position for his background in technology, product design, his enthusiasm for tech, and his connection with in several San Francisco developer communities.

Championed the Speek VoIP platform to developers.

Hosted hack meetups and other events in SF & NYC.

Founded their mobile department, and lead Flite in implementing mobile applications into their platform.

Built hundreds of mobile web applications for iOS, Android, and Blackberry.

His work helped Flite win "Next BIG Digital Startup" of 2011 by BIG Star awards.

Took the lead as both developer and creative.

Built world class web apps with the ExtJS Sencha MVC JavaScript framework, JQ Mobile, and mobile friendly HTML5.

Front-End Engineer

The Search Engine for Cars, is an acclaimed search engine aiming at being the Google of car listings. It presently has over 3 times the number of car listings than AutoTrader. It was founded by Intel, AOL, and Microsoft alumni. I led the UI Development team. I worked extensively with CSS and jQuery. At an early stage start-up, you have to juggle a lot of roles. Some days I was building JS widgets, some days I was doing the UI design. My primary role was to build the functional front-end of the site. Visit www.chug.net to see Chug in action.

Led the design and development of Chug's front end from the ground up.

Coded W3C compliant HTML and CSS, with emerging HTML5 and CSS3.

Coded extensive jQuery, PHP, and some vanilla JavaScript.

Worked within a lean startup environment.

Led team meetings onsite and over Skype.

Used jQuery to parse JSON data coming back from MongoDB.

Took the lead in designing mockups for new features in Photoshop.

Designed the initial look and feel of the site, then scouted & managed a designer to implement throughout.

Designer & Developer

At DTM Creative Matthew worked on a variety of projects. He built a lot of marketing microsites for brands including Nike, ABC Family Channel, and Jeep/Chrysler. He would design the UI in Photoshop, with multiple iterations with the sales team, and then code the functionality in PHP and JS to collect, check, and process user collected data.

Created microsites to log user collected data into a MySQL database.

Was project manager, lead developer, and lead designer for the "Click here to win a Free iPod" sweepstakes which received millions of weekly hits, and became sort of an internet sensation.

Designed and built promotional sites for the ABC Family Channel using HTML, CSS, and Flash.

Built a game in Flash for Disney which let users fly Tinkerbell through the Peter Pan DVD re-release collection.

Designed stickers, posters, and flyers for Richie Hawtin, one of the worlds biggest DJs.

Built an extremely interactive website for Warp Records which was acclaimed by several design blogs. The site featured an integration of stop motion video with the interface. Designed all the graphic assets including custom typography.

Designed the logo and styleguide for the record label "The Plan" in Adobe Illustrator, which was printed on records and marketing materials which was promoted across the world at international music festivals.

HOBBIES

He was one of the founders of the Noisebridge hacker space, and is extremely involved in the Max/MSP community, building voice into interactive audio projects.

Studied martial arts including Wing Chun Kung Fu, and has a brown belt in Kenpo Karate.

He’s into robotics and open source microcontrollers like the Arduino.

Ran a record label called Focus Media from 2002-2008. He threw dozens of events which received good press write ups, designed and marketed the records, and sold music to fans around the world.

He plays guitar, bass, keys, vocals, and is a recording engineer.

Has been DJing since the 90s, and has a love for classic house & techno.

Has been in several Indie / Rock / Punk bands which have been on the radio and received international press.

He is an avid runner.
