Professional Experience

Inform Technologies, New York, NY Software Engineer

February, 2010-Present

● Created JavaScript widgets which were embedded on Inform’s clients' websites. These widgets displayed Inform's related news content of news articles.

● Created browser extensions in JavaScript.

● Used JSONP for cross-domain communication from client to server, running Node.js instances on the server.

● Leveraged Memcached for storing results in the server’s cache.

● Developed web applications in Django and jQuery. These applications were used as news article curation tools by Inform’s taxonomy group. Leveraged Django’s admin interface for managing users.

● Was responsible for preliminary design, implementation and production release of these web apps. Deployed applications on Amazon ec2 instances running CentOS Linux with Apache and Nginx.

● Designed a real-time dashboard application which showed streaming statistics of Inform’s profits and metrics. For this, I used Hookbox Python API for web socket and web hook communication from server to client.

● Developed front and back-end code for a Workers Compensation web application using the Struts framework and Maven scripts.

● Wrote SQL queries that provided a clean migration path from a direct SQL/JDBC based application to Hibernate.

● Deployed the application on the mainframe using Apache Maven. Ran regression tests to verify successful deployment.

● Developed a document management system for KPMG’s Tax department, using J2EE and the Struts framework, that was deployed on IBM WebSphere and Oracle.

● Performed development and algorithm design (sorting and, retrieving, data structures) in Java.

● Created Java Server Pages, Struts Java Action classes, and XML configuration files to fulfill business functionality requirements. Leveraged Hibernate to expose Oracle database entities as Java objects.

● Wrote SQL queries to create and alter database tables, as well as to insert and update new data. Performed unit testing and system testing for all application code modifications.

Mobile projects and hobbies

● Rooted an Android device and installed wireless tethering capabilities on it.

● Currently working on porting Node.js (server-side javascript) to run on Android.
