Project Engineer and Construction Manager
Duties included level II and III energy audits of Naval and Air Force Base
buildings to include administrative offices, barracks, aircraft hangars,
and recreational facilities. I also served as construction manager for
several energy meter installations for the Veterans Administration and the
General Service Administration. This entailed supervision of electrical and
mechanical meter installation contractors.
Other duties included upgrading and revising the Air Force Refrigeration
Handbook to align and update it with the latest codes and regulations.
Additionally I performed a feasibility study on converting the base central
steam heating distribution system to localized hot water heating systems at
Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Mechanical Design Group Leader
Duties included providing engineering services for clients, establishing
process requirements, plant utility studies, and writing design criteria
for each system. Worked closely with LGE Construction Management Staff to
insure work was completed to design specifications.
. Designed complete mechanical utility systems for Textile Plants,
Automotive Plants, and General Industrial Plants including Fire
Protection, Plumbing, Process, and HVAC Systems.

Project Engineer
Duties included assisting customers with installing textile and carpet
machinery from single pieces of equipment to turnkey management of entire
textile and carpet ranges.
MILLIKEN & COMPANY, Spartanburg, SC
1976-1984
Design Engineer, Mechanical Section, Corporate Engineering Department
Duties included layout and installation design of coal-fired boilers,
underground utility piping, and assisting HVAC Section in modification of
air conditioning systems.
Engineering Analyst, Fabric Formation Energy Task Force
The project involved making energy audits of weaving and knitting plants in
Milliken & Company with recommendations for areas in these plants having
potential energy savings.
Assistant Plant Engineer, Lockhart Plant, Lockhart, SC
This plant employed approximately 600 employees at the time.
Responsibilities included supervision of maintenance force divided into
electrical, mechanical, and air conditioning.
