Managed and directed the Outside Plant design and engineering for extensive Wide Area Network in Dallas, Texas for the Dallas Independent School District. This fiber optic network will connect 280 schools and facilities throughout the Dallas metro area with a state of the art 10gig broadband network. Worked on a daily basis to secure aerial and underground permits with both government and private entities. Primary POC with DISD network personnel to identify and design network, Outside Plant, building entrance and Inside Plant requirements.

Colorado State University

Fiber Optic Plant Manager April 2009 – July 2011

Directed the construction, engineering and maintenance of the CSU campus wide fiber optic network. Managed installation and engineering personnel on a daily basis as needed to design, implement and maintain network infrastructure. Primary interface with Colorado Department of Transportation, University of Wyoming and City of Ft. Collins CO. to collaborate on joint venture fiber optic network builds throughout the region.

Senior Information Technologist July 2003 – November 2008

Provided engineering/installation quality assurance and technical guidance for a multi-million dollar US Army telecommunication program(I3MP). Developed and implemented installation standards for both inside and outside plant networks. This includes fiber optic/copper cable plant, network switch equipment and Outside Plant network design. Day to day oversight of contractor activities including all aspects of project completion and government acceptance. Projects were in Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium and the United States.

Cable Acceptance Manager September 2001- June 2003

Senior engineer for a nationwide long-haul/metro fiber optic program. Managed the engineering and construction activities for several multi-million dollar projects. Responsibilities included Outside Plant permitting, route development, cost estimating, bidding, scheduling and coordinating with other carriers and customers. Directly responsible for the supervision of field inspectors who monitored installation contractors. Coordinated with Qwest on many joint builds for long haul, metro rings and CLEC projects.

Operations Supervisor June 1997- August 2001

Supervised technical personnel to install and maintain fiber optic cable plant, SONET transport equipment, central office and regeneration facilities. Duties included new equipment installations, circuit cross connects, cable locating, cable splicing and all facility maintenance activities. This position was both managerial and technical in nature.

Broadwing Communications

Cable Acceptance Manager December 1993 - May 1997

Managed the engineering, construction and maintenance of long-haul and metropolitan fiber optic projects nationwide. Responsible for the preparation of bid packages, selection of contractors, supervision of field personnel, and coordinating the construction, testing, documentation and turnover of cable plant upon completion of construction.
