Career Overview :

* *** ** ********** ** design and analysis of subsea pipelines and offshore structures (mainly fixed platforms but some exposure to floating vessels also) with International subsea/offshore Eng. and Installation Companies in multi-cultural work environment and diverse geographic regions viz. North sea/UK, Middle East & India. I am now looking to settle down with one company.

Competency Summary :

-Design & analyses of pipelines using commercial packages such as Sage Profile 2D, DNV FATFREE, ABAQUS PlusOne and. Codes and standards include API, DNV, AISC, AISC,ISO etc. Excellent exposure to DNV codes.

-Experience in FEED, Pre-Bid and Detailed design stages for pipelines. Overall Pipeline Lead for E.ON Rita in North Sea. Pipeline Analysis include Upheaval Buckling, On-bottom stability, Mattress Stability, Dropped Object Impact, Free spanning, Lateral buckling, Rock dumping, trenching and backfilling etc. Development of code based MathCAD/Excel based design tools. Almost all pipeline projects worked on were offshore projects. Some idea about PIP and Bundles with Subsea7.

-Exposure to development of Pipeline Design Basis and review of pipeline specs.

-Experience on installation design for Rigid Pipelay for Subsea7’s Reel Lay vessels. OrcaFlex / OrcaLay rigid pipelay analyses. Conducted studies on S7‘s Reel Lay. Exposure to J-lay with Subsea7. S-lay in Mumbai High Fields.

-Experience on pipeline stress analysis for trenching. Knowledge of pipeline trenching equipment, both jet trenchers & mechanical plough / cutters etc.

-Experience with certification agencies (Lloyds Register, DNV, Noble Denton), handling design consultants / third party verifications (APA, LOC etc) ,and Offshore Contractors (Van Oord, Boskalis etc). Response to Client / certification agency comments.

-Experience of leading small engineering teams with CTC Marine & Subsea7 and others. In-house capability building for engineering teams, including Mentoring of junior engineers with BS / MS backgrounds.

-FE modelling & stress calcs for vessel deck / underdeck structures, mechanical equipment parts. Design of equipment spreads and seafastenings for vessel motions with CTC marine projects. Stress Design, Modelling and analysis using commercial packages (FEA) viz. LUSAS, MicroSAS, and GtStrudl others. Analysis include Linear Static, Quasi Static, Non Linear, utilizing Plate, Shell, Brick, tetrahedron and a wide variety of elements etc.

-Field / Site experience includes: production engineer for 8 months on spar hull fabrication (over 500 ft long steel structure), Site Engineer for Heavy Lifts of platform subassemblies using large capacity cranes, Offshore on Cable Lay Vessel for FLAG Falcon Project, and on Site support for Vessel mobilizations and demobilizations.

-Exposure to reliability based design and risk assessment methods. I have also taught technical subjects and been project guide for many Masters level students in UK.

-Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel internationally.

Dec '09 - Present Principal Pipeline Engineer, GeoResources Solutions,

All below resposibilites plus Client coordination and business development with clients such as Samsung Heavy Industries, Meckon India and others.

Worked on Cathodic protection design and pipeline internal corrosion design.

Pipeline design calculations – Wall thickness, on-bottom stability, Free Spanning, Expansion Analysis, Upheaval Buckling, On-bottom stability, Mattress Stability, Rock dumping calculations, Dropped Object Impact, Cathodic Protection design calcs. / Design Reviews of design consultant documents.

Development and standardizaton of MathCAD design sheets for from new DNV codes – RP F110, F105, F109, C204 & OS F101 etc, API codes - API RP 1111 etc, ASME codes - ASME B31.8 and others. Developed new CP design sheet for optimisation of anode requirement.

Responsible for single handedly obtaining a number of Design/Plan approvals for Pipeline Deck Spreads, seafastening designs and vessel underdeck checks with Lloyds Registrar & LOC.

CTC Engineer on board offshore vessel ‘BodoMariner’ for Alcatel’s FLAG Falcon PLIB Cable Laying Project in the Middle East waters in Sept ’06 (1 month).

FEM Structural modelling of ship under deck structure, checking deck equipment spreads and loads due to this & detailed hand design checks on structural / mechanical components of Trenching Equipment using ‘LUSAS’ FE package.

Sept’ 05 – April’ 06 Design Engineer, OGD III Project, Bechtel, New Delhi Office

Modelling, Analysis and Design of Process piping Pipe Racks, and piping supports for onshore process plant - OGD III project.

Exposed to Tekla Structures.

Selected to be part of Bechtel’s upcoming power project Early stage engineering at Bechtel’s Global Power Headquarters in Frederick, Maryland, US.

Design of Topsides & Jackets - In-place, Transportation, Lift, Upending, Loadout, On-Bottom Stability, Cathodic protection system design using codes and industry standards including API RP 2A (WSD) – (21st Edition), AISC Steel Construction Manual. – (9th Edition), API RP 2B, Steel Designers Manual McDermott engineering procedures and Project design bases.

Acquired proficiency in MicroSAS, platform analysis package, developed Excel & MathCAD design sheets for detailed design. Programming also applied in carrying out analysis.
