Asphalt Field Technician / Mechanic

Responsible for maintenance, repair and safe operation of Asphalt Paving equipment as well as mechanics field truck. ( Asphalt laydown machine, steel drum and rubber tire rollers, and various support and transport equipment).

Duties include traveling with paving crew to various jobsites in the southwestern United States, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of all components and systems related to asphalt equipment.

Order parts and maintain essential wear and replacement parts stock on mechanics service vehicle.

Provide these services to minimize downtime and cost, this includes planning services, repairs and rebuilds to coincide with normal downtime of equipment.

Perform repairs and services on various types of construction equipment in the company shop when not paving. (pressure washers, backhoes, scrapers, dozers, blades, water and transport trucks and trailers).

Accurate and timely reporting to supervisor of repairs completed or needed, as well as when and where the equipment will be working.

Coordinate with transport supervisor to ensure that the proper equipment is delivered to job sites.

Determine when to trade out equipment that cannot be repaired in the field or has exceeded it’s service life.

DOT Inspections on transport tractors trailers and service trucks.

Operate asphalt laydown equipment and labor behind paving machine when needed.
