Profile

I am an adaptable, social person with a passion for Technology, Science, Research & Development and Sound. I am also a fast learner and ambitions person. My goal is to work in a multidisciplinary environment between academic fields or connecting people in the worlds of Sound, Music, Science and Technology. I consciously and constantly try and improve communications skills, learn more and grow in the personal, social and professional arenas.

Skills Overview

Skills set: ease with numbers, abstraction of ideas, design structuring and logical thinking, plus social and interpersonal and communication skills as well, aiming to make this latter more efficient. I am literate in a number of technical texts and a range of computer packages. I have valuable customer service experience and am also a native Spanish speaker with fluent English.

Education

2010-2011 M.Sc. Acoustics and Music Technology – University o f Edinburgh - Edinburgh, UK.

My thesis involved research and development about Data Sonification Tool using ViMiC to Create Audio Spatialization as an Auditory Display. It was focused on putting together information available on the subject, related to spatial audio, sonic perception and psychoacoustics. Finally, sound-programming software such as Max MSP was used to tailor an application that supports complex data input.

A previous project, researched on the same course concerned Binaural Audio. Making use of Matlab as a signal-processing tool, I created impulse responses of anechoic stimulus to generate binaural sound. This was highly related with the field of psychoacoustics.

This Masters included modules on Matlab, and DSP in which I acquired plenty of experience on these subjects, furthermore, courses such as Analysis, Perception and Synthesis of Sound, covered topics on psychoacoustics and human hearing system particularities; we also had taught subjects in sound design.

2004-2009 B.S. Mechatronics Engineering – Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey – México

As an undergraduate I undertook an engineering course that covered areas of Mechanics, Electronics and IT, focused on automation on the industry, such as the usage of Programmable Logic Controllers. Computer Programming was a major issue on this course and I gained plenty of programming skills in a variety of language, including Java, C, Assembler and Machine (used on CNCs).

Job Experience

I’ve worked as a freelance engineer, designing and implementing electronic devices while leading a team of junior engineers. The main project regarded the use of microcontroller technology, programmed on C; electronic circuits and PCBs manufacture included.

I also have experience in the Technical installation and promotion of Solar Technologies. I have been involved in the design and construction of a Sound Production Studio, perfect for learning details of sound environments and their requirements. I hold experience on sound events production, which accounts for knowledge on logistics and management.

After my undergraduate course I worked as a Home Automation System designer, programmer and installer in Mexico City. I had contact with high-end technologies related to sound and multimedia installations.
