ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE (Unpublished Projects)
Tigrinya Optical Character Recognition (T-OCR)
Done in a team of 4 students under a professor as an advisor.
Program that recognizes images of scanned Tigrinya text and produces Unicode text representing what was recognized (i.e. converts from images to text).
Implemented a technique called Shape Context to describe images of the scanned text. Then try to identify what the image represents out of the known Tigrinya letters stored in a database.
School Information Management System for Eritrea (sims4eritrea)
An on-going project (not finished).
I took on this project with some colleagues, to make contribution to Eritrea. Specially, that database-programming is considered the most beneficial and applicable programming solution in Eritrea.
Software using VB.NET and ASP.NET, frontend and MySQL, backend.
Automate routine school administration tasks like producing schedules for classes and teachers, preparing grade reports and different statistics.
Planned to support Tigrinya and relevant built-in reports.
