CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Product Development / P&L / ROI Improvement / Cost Reductions / Acquisitions Integrations
Infrastructure Development / Systems Architecture / Alliances / JV’s / Contract Negotiations
Combining strong technical and team leadership skills, I drove system, software, and infrastructure design, deployment and upgrades for Global 500 Earthlink and Xerox, ensuring close alignment between technology and mission. I grew profits by negotiating vendor contracts, developing new business and improving processes.
Defining/implementing technology improvements to positively impact enterprise bottom line
Thinking through complex problems to define/deploy successful solutions
Serving as interface between engineers and other departments, end users, and customers
Hiring and motivating strong staff to meet aggressive goals and diverse challenges
Building strong technical alliances to support product development and reduce time-to-market
Known as a catalyst in breaking boundaries, I led teams in identifying problems and seizing opportunities to find solutions that helped companies grow in rapid expansion as well as retrenchment environments. Ph.D./M.S., Physics, University of Connecticut. B.S. Physics, University of Newcastle Upon-Tyne, England, UK. US Citizen.
Awards: Multiple Customer First, Presidential, SESS Achievement, and Recognition awards from Xerox. Authored articles in the study of Physics and presented research. Advanced Training: MIT, Brown and Harvard Universities.
TECHNICAL: Integration: Java, C, C++, C#; Database design: Oracle, MySQL; Architecture: real-time systems, ISP, webhosting, SaaS, LAMP, new systems, VoIP; Migration: data, platforms.
HIGHLIGHTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Rebuilt infrastructure, improving efficiency while cutting costs. Joined Earthlink during time of rapid expansion through M&As and organic growth. Designed infrastructure to centralize customer data. Integrated billing systems with new authentication/authorization services, saving $6M annually. Unified provisioning interface, saving $20M/yr.
Delivered infrastructure support for joint venture, reducing time-to-market. Helio, a $440M joint venture between Earthlink and SK Telecom, had rapid growth but no infrastructure in US. Proposed use of Earthlink infrastructure which was highly scalable, reliable, and flexible. Cut time-to-market 89% while saving $5-$10M.
Saved millions on mail services with new architecture. Earthlink’s costs in EMC storage to support mail services were too high. Proposed and developed new mail architecture, taking advantage of more cost-effective storage by optimizing application storage utilization. Saved $5M over three-year period.
Overhauled core online service, delivering millions in revenue. Mail system at Earthlink was unstable, causing customer churn. Identified root cause of multiple problems and implemented solutions. Generated $8M in annual revenue.
