WORK EXPERIENCE

2009-2012: Sr. Software QA Engineer, Bayvision Technology Inc., Plano, TX

• In charge of white-box testing of operational reports in CRM application. Built SQL queries on top of various types of databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2) to validate the data accuracy of the reports developed in Crystal Reports. Carried out extensive testing on report scheduling, exporting and output formatting in the Reports Engine, and report dashboard on mobile devices. Made detailed recommendations on ways to fix the problems.

• Performed functional, UI, and error recovery testing of Administrator, Mail Receiver, Mail Sender, Rule Engine, Queue Manager and Mail Client in the web-based email management CRM application on multiple OS platforms and mobile devices.

• Supported the offshore team in China in test case execution and defect tracking.

2008: Sr. Software QA Engineer, Apple Inc., Cupertino, CA (Resigned from Apple due to family relocation)

• Led testing at remote manufacturing facilities. Documented procedures and trained 20+ partner resources on testing iPod/iPhone OS (iOS) platform, hardware and applications.

• Responsible for analyzing and reporting testing results to cross-functional teams. Contributed to 5 high-quality releases of iPhone OS and iPod.

• Managed defect tracking, test plan publishing, and test case execution by the remote team.

• Identified statistically significant defects by analyzing large volume of testing results and reproducing rare issues. Prevented iPod/iPhone defects from leaking to the market.

2003 – 2008: Sr. Software QA Engineer, Visto Corp (Good Technology), Redwood City, CA

• In charge of Wireless Sync client certification on Palm, Pocket PC, Smartphone, and Symbian devices, to verify the correct synchronization of email and PIM (calendar, contacts and tasks) data between the mail server and the device client.

• Coordinated closely with Project Managers, Professional Services, Customer Support, device manufacturers, and wireless operators to sort out test requirements and delivery dates.

• Conducted device ROM upgrade, client functionality/branding/localization testing, and stability/performance testing using Microsoft Hopper application. Successfully certified Motorola, HTC, Palm, Pantech, and Nokia devices for various mobile service providers such as AT&T/Cingular, T-Mobile, TELUS, Rogers, and Ericsson/RCC, etc. within tight schedule.

• Led mobile client testing against configurations of Enterprise/Personal editions, Exchange/Domino server, and POP/IMAP mailboxes. Dramatically improved the product quality after taking over the team.

• Responsible for use case review, test planning/scheduling, test case compilation, bug triage, release notes review, and task distribution in the Agile team. Influenced the developers to adopt TDD (Test-driven Development).

• Built an offshore QA team in China. Provided on-site training to the founding members. The team grew from 5 to more than 30, and became the core testing resource.

• Developed and executed comprehensive testing strategies, test plans, test cases and requirement matrix. Improved efficiency of both the initial and regression testing.

• Ensured timely tracking, reporting and prioritization of application defects and enhancement requests. Consistently provided clear and concise defect descriptions, reproduction steps and resolution outcome.

Sr. Software Engineer, 2000 – 2002

• Responsible for ETL (Extract/Transform/Load of operational data to data warehouse) and analytics development. Consistently met deadlines under extreme resource constraints.

• Designed and implemented CRM, Commerce, Marketing ETL modules and analytics (reports) on top of EPM tool in KANA’s close-loop analytics application suite.

• Extracted transactional data for Siebel, Clarify, BroadVision, BEA, ATG and KANA’s OLTP enterprise applications from RDBMS to data warehouse/OLAP. Built relational and multi-dimensional reports using SQL and MDX on top of star schemas to convert the raw data into analytical solutions in multi-dimensional databases.

• Successfully resolved key customer escalations on modules outside my responsibility under challenging conditions. The Technical Support team was extremely satisfied with my prompt response and the cleanness of my solutions.

• Developed regression test scripts for analytics application to automate and ease integration/testing/debugging efforts.
