Port Engineer

• Thorough experience with dry dock management.

• Demonstrates analytical problem solving, time/project management, and decision making skill.

• Repairs and upgrades boats by listening to operator’s description of malfunction, conducting tests, identifying problem and resolution.

• Responsible for communicating critical information to field operations.

• Doing maintenance and repair on motor vessel. Including all types of problem like mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic.

• Monitors project work expenditures versus projected costs for materials and supplies that are purchased and that project expenditures are under budget.

• Performs periodic inspections of the jobsites to ensure that standardized construction procedures are followed and attends weekly Project Manager Meetings to discuss job progress and any problems that are currently being encountered.

• Read and comprehend drawings including, but not limited to plant layout, P&ID, equipment drawings.

• Read and comprehend vendor literature including but not limited to installation, operation, and maintenance manual; and parts list.

• Knowledge of applicable ASTM, NFPA, API, BS and OCIMF standards.

• Use computer in daily routine, including data entry into computerized management maintenance system.

• Coordinate all marine dock activities with regard to readiness of the ship, barge, terminal, surveyors and customers.

• Develop annual and quarterly internal ship audit schedules to ensure internal audits are conducted annually on each ship and in the most cost effective way. Conduct Internal Audits of ships in the Houston Fleet and other Fleets and chartered ships as required, with as little disruption to the vessel's normal operations as possible.

• Conduct visits to ships in the all fleets to review marine requirements. Assist in third party audits as directed by the Marine and Safety Services Manager. Assist Company Security Officers as required.

• Communicate to operations employees, supervisors, and others regarding the identification of problems and completion of jobs in their area both verbally and in writing.

• Diagnostic and repair all types of heavy equipment. Including all types of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic problem.

• Overhaul the natural gas compressor in the shop and the field. From major repair and minor repair also.

• Participate in scheduled visits to all vessels on a regular basis to ensure that the vessels are maintained to company standards. Complete vessel inspection reports each visit and include in vessel inspection file for each boat.

Skills / Qualification

• Excellent interpersonal skills required for conducting day to day business.

• Responsible for keeping the vessels maintained and operating safely on a regular basis.

• 5 years Project management experience.

• 5 years Vessel management experience.

• 15 years shipyard or ship management experience or equivalency.

• Supervise the activities of the vessel engineers and mechanics, and assist with

maintenance activities during breakdowns, dry dockings and overhauls.

Education / Training

• Degree Mechanical Engineering from San Jacinto College

• Airframe, Power plant License from Westwood College

• (3ASE) in Diesel Mechanic in Electrical System, Overhaul Engine, and components, Tranmission.

• Cert in Water Survival/H.U.E.T

• Cert in Caterpillar engine, and Electrical System Diagnostic

• Certified Document Sea Time for 540 Days in sea time
