PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

DSC2000 is the existing mainframe system containing WMS and Merchandize functionalities. The scope of Track-2 is decoupling the WMS portion of the mainframe system from the Merchandizing component. The WMS portion will be developed in GLS 2.0 as part of track1 activity.

Since the WMS component in DCS2000 is moved to GLS2.0, new interfaces will be developed between DCS2000 and GLS2.0. Additionally, GLS will also be interfaced with various external systems like TR7, Host, Swiss log and Talk man.

A common framework called interface health check system will be developed which would take care of transmitting the data from source to destination server. Interface health check will operate in two modes of transmission - the Message Queue and the FTP system. By default, data will be transferred through Message Queue. In case of Message Queue failure, the system will switch to FTP mode of transmission.

Decoupling of WMS component from DCS2000 will be done by modifying the programs in the DCS2000 so that it takes the required data from GLS 2.0 through the respective interfaces. Track-1 will build the WMS components from DCS2000 into GLS 2.0.

CLIENT DESCRIPTION:

Unified WMS system to serve all their DCs. Due to the magnitude and breadth of work to be done and its Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is the largest retailer in the world with over 6500 stores in 15 countries.

Wal-Mart has various categories or products and types of stores which are replenished using a chain of about 150 Distribution Centers (DCs) globally. There are multiple types of DCs based on

The type of merchandise that the DC distributes and the type of stores it services. Currently, Wal-mart has four code bases and seventeen different flavors of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) running in various DCs across the globe. Supporting, maintaining and enhancing these many different systems are becoming increasingly difficult and cost-prohibitive as Wal-Mart business continues to grow. To address this, Wal-Mart has identified an opportunity to develop a impact to the business, Wal-Mart has divided the project into four phases.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

I have been involved in Analysis of time and cost estimation document for testing, Test Strategy document preparation, Test Plan, Test Scenario document preparation & Test Case document preparation, Test Execution and Test log (Test results) document preparation, Handling System testing, Handling Regression testing, Defect tracking in QC, Preparation of Test summary report.

As a Test engineer, I am also involved in analyzing the use cases and system design and also in identifying gaps between requirements and system design. I am also involved in preparation of Test scenarios, test case and test data for System tests and System Integration testing phases. Also I am involved in analyzing test environment set up requirements. During system test execution phase, I am involved in testing UI screens and business logic by data base querying and data manipulation activities like data engineering. During SIT phase, I am involved in testing interfaces across different platforms

Also involved in the situation where in the absence of my team lead to handle the team and take the effective decisions in complex situations and make the team understand their role and responsibilities and also in such situation interact with DEV team and discuss the complex issues and make them understand the necessary. This automation process results in very much save in time and efficient testing of the application.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this project is to automate the RIS (Routing and integration system) using GH tester automation tool. GH tester is the automation tool which is used for middleware testing. RIS has different services named as SOLD, UKBA, PAYMENTS, and REGISTRATION. All this services includes the daily transaction which is called as Real time and batch processes.

The real time is the WMB based which includes the data flow using the queues and the batch includes the batch programs for processing the data. All this services has the data flow across them and with the external systems.

The scope of this project is to automate the manual test case using the GH tester automation tool which is middleware testing tool. This implies in preparing the GH tester scripts using the manual test cases and automating them. This also includes the QC integration with the GH tester which in turn allows updating the QC bases on the results of the GH tester test scripts.

GH tester allows creating the test script for each individual test case so that all the test cases can be run at once using the GH tester suit and corresponding test case status will be updated into the QC (Quality Center). Automation of this project is done for the real time which is WMB (queue based) and batch which is the batch programs. The successful automation of this project results in automation of the other Barclays project names DAKOTA, GPU etc. using GH tester automation tool.
