• Develop scientific approach for robust water treatment technologies in the team

• Risk assessment and benchmarking of competitor products in the areas of “Antibacterial Soap/hard surface cleaners” Water treatment technologies” and food processing method”

• Assessment of antimicrobial efficacy of Surface cleaner/soap formulation including bacteria/virus.

• Develop molecular methods for rapid identification of water / food borne pathogens.

KEY PROJECTS and DELIVERIES

• Project: Development and optimization of Antiseptic Liquid formulation

Identification of effective components of formulation.

Isolation of bacteria from volunteer hands (both the hands) and base line count for the assay development.

Standardizatition of antimicrobial assay for target bacteria/virus for the formulation

Define performance window of “New Cif Formulation” for gram Positive/negative bacteria

Consistency in product performance in Clean and dirty condition under different physical parameters (pH, Temperature).

Defining the criticality of the steps involved in the technology.

• Project: Non-Disruptive method for biofouling assessment

KEY DELIVERABLES:

Isolate and pure culture formation of bacteria from biofouled membrane.

Characterization of all the organisms from pure culture.

Assessment of biofouling efficiency of individual bacteria as well as bacterial cocktail.

Development and standardization of method to assess biofouling of membrane on the basis of pressure increase on the membrane.

• Project: High throughput method for MS2 Bacteriophage quantification

KEY DELIVERABLES:

Define and Standardize MS2 host culture age (E.coli) for effective infection by Phage.

Standardization of culture dilution to get infected cell count for unknown MS2 bacteriophage concentration

Full proof SOP for MS2 bacteriophage quantification and its practical application.

• Project: Very low cost “Water Treatment Technology”:

Define performance window of “Sachet Formulation” in line with USEPA Guidelines.

Consistency in product performance under different water quality parameters.

Defining the criticality of the steps involved in the technology.

• Project: Development and optimization of filtration technique for Cryptosporidium cyst from drinking water.

KEY DELIVERABLES:

Characterization of cyst structure and Zeta potential.

Development and optimization of PLEATED FILTERS for cyst filtration from source water as per USEPA and NSFP231 guidelines.

• Project: Kill kinetics and Mathematical modeling of Resistant waterborne pathogens (ENTERIC VIRUS and Vibrio cholera)

KEY DELIVERABLES:

Standardized a high throughput method to quantify MS2 Bacteriophage.

Physiological conversion of Vibrio (N16961) Smooth strain in to Rugose strain.

Data generation and modeling of kill kinetics pattern of MS2 Bacteriophage and Vc Rugose strain with chlorine under different physical parameter.

Determination of Aggregate size of Vc Rugose by using PSD and DLS to understand the resistance for certain specific population.

Research paper for publication (WR 1925) is under process in Water Research.

• Project: Emerging waterborne pathogens and development of molecular techniques.

Identification of key bacteria of Enterobacteriacae using molecular biological techniques

Primer validation and standardization.

Demonstrate “Proof of concept” in bacteria (different strains of bacteria) cocktail.

• Hold a patent (Assigne-Hindustan Unilever Research Centre) for water purification device 10175259.0-1213.

• Manuscript (Water Research1925) for a Research Paper on “A modified Ct-criterion for virus inactivation in the presence of decaying chlorine concentration” has been submitted.

• Presented a paper in an International conference on Sustainable water technologies in NEERI, Nagpur on “A modified Ct-criterion for virus inactivation in the presence of decaying chlorine concentrations” in 2011.

• Awarded by Hindustan Unilever research centre for outstanding contribution to continuous improvement for Filter design enabling higher efficacy and superior consumer benefit.

• Delivered seminar on “Difference of inactivation kinetics for two physiological different strain of Vibrio cholerae” in Unilever UK , Colworth laboratory.

I have worked on Department of Biotechnology (DBT) funded project on “Niche Area” to Identify Disease outbreaks in animals Especially Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

• Literature scanning and identifying key data gaps in molecular methods for FMD virus.

• Standardization of Nested PCR and RT- PCR for FMD virus.

• RNA isolation and SDS PAGE.

• Design primers and Development of a robust Molecular method to detect FMD.
