June 2011-September 2011(Summer Internship)

Energy Northwest, Nine Canyon Wind project

Operation and Maintenance-Service technician. I worked closely with higher level technicians in trouble shooting electrical and mechanical components, using wiring and hydraulic diagrams and digital multi meters. Specifically worked on Siemens Bonus 1.3 and 2.3 MW Turbine

• Observe all lockout tag out and safety protocols

• Grease pitch, yaw, and main shaft bearings clean all excessive grease

• Change out filter ( in line, off line, hydraulic, and cabinet)

• Check and charge accumulators for brake at 165 bar and pitch system at 105 bar with dry nitrogen

• Check slip ring components and replace as needed, clean slip ring from carbon build up

• Physically check sensors(blade speed, vibration, pitch encoders)

• Troubleshoot and correct mechanical/electrical components (sensors, relays, motors, and capacitors with DMM. Change out accumulators as needed)

• Gearbox change out apply rotor locks, main shaft lock down, disassemble slip ring, and unbolt shrink element

• Visually inspect turbine during Ascent/Decent for loose connections and exposed wires, zip ties, and overall cleanliness.
