Medical Interpreter-Provided translation services between doctors/hospital

staff and Spanish speaking patients in hospitals like Truman Med Center,

St. Luke's Hosp, and Children's Mercy. My duty was to facilitate

communication between the doctors and the patients in such a way that

doctors had the necessary information to make medical decisions. I was

responsible for helping patients understanding during appointments or

procedures. I was able to provide comfort to patients who were concerned of

the language gap and lack of understanding over their medical condition or

treatment, and restored effective communication between doctor & patient by

explaining necessary treatment options. Specialized in

Obstetrical/Gynecological cases, Labor & Delivery room, ER care, Fertility

clinic, among others. Due to hospital budget cuts Babel Communications

contract expired and my position was eliminated.

Brower Dental Group 1993-1996

Dental Assistant-Chair side assisting for two general dentists, performed x-

rays, prophylaxis, equipment maintenance, stocking, sterilization and

inventory. Responsible for patients scheduling, billing, dental insurance,

discussed financial arrangements and treatment plans. Experience with

Dentrix computerized medical/dental records.
