I completed my educational hours at Marymount College in May 2004 and I completed 2,000 hours working at Carnegie Institutes Out Patient Substance Abuse Facility here in New York City as a Counselor. I had a caseload of 15 clients and facilitated 3 groups weekly. I worked closely with a staff of 6 part-time Social Workers and the Office Manager to ensure the smooth running of the facility. Some of my responsibilities were scheduling, outreach, intakes, discharges and patient chart maintenance. I worked with all my clients on their psychosocial, treatment plans and referrals. I created a referral library at the facility and meet with the Director of our program several times a week.
Also my skills, training and experience as an office manager, coordinator/liaison to emergency feeding programs at City Harvest and my position as an Employment Counselor/Account Manager at a staffing company all encompass many of the qualities and skills needed to continue my career as a Counselor. All facility related functions to ensure day-to-day efficient smooth running of this non-profit of 39 employees.
