Commercial Operations

Managing Business operations of region with intense commercial and financial controls within organization’s policies.

Support and guidance to the sales team and distributors within organization policy.

Supervising and monitoring invoicing, banking, delivery schedule, schemes for the month, dealer’s management of the entire region etc.

Looking after Commercial Planning, Credit Control, Capex and Revenue exp of the entire region.

Aggressively follow up and issue Dunning Letters to customers / dealers to ensure timely realization of outstanding.

To monitor and control the annual regional budget, comparison with actuals and report for the same.

Taking care of all Sales Tax issues including appeals, hearings before Sales Tax Authorities and taking care of all the Legal Cases related to the region.

Preparation of Statutory Returns and other Statutory Compliance like labor law, shop & establishments etc with relevant guidelines within the region.

Customer’s and vendor’s accounts reconciliation in regular interval.

Ensuring quality portfolio of the customers within the set parameters and visiting the customers / distributors in regular interval.

Implemented SOPs for various commercial controls on different business models.

Closely correspond and liaise with customers / dealers for their queries.

Warehouse management in co-ordination with user departments to curtail inventory holding expenses & adhere to stocking system for various materials, minimize wastage and visit CFA in regular interval.

Coordinating with the vendors for arranging supplies as per schedules & Inventory management.

Finance & Accounts

Supervising the timely preparation of statutory books of accounts and finalization of year end statements.

Preparing & maintaining accounting systems & financial statements including MIS, P&L Account and Balance Sheet. Ensuring performance to time, accuracy and statutory norms. Analyzing financial statements & preparing reports on performance of company.

Handling financial matters including Working Capital Management, Bank Reconciliation, Fund arrangement as per requirement of region etc.

Set systems and processes for commercial, accounting and internal controls to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the department.

Auditing & Taxation

Co-ordinate Audit, meeting requirements of Internal & External Auditor; evaluating the internal control systems with view to highlight shortcomings & implementing recommendations.

Computing & arranging for timely deposit of tax (Income Tax, Service Tax, TDS, Advance Tax); filing of returns and challans for completion of assessment.

Advising on tax matters and making Form 16, pay slips and salary structuring of employees.

ORGANISATIONAL DETAILS

Since Jul’07 till Mar’11 at Roche Diagnostics India Pvt. Ltd., (a 100% owned subsidiary of F-Hoffmann La Roche Ltd, Switzerland) as Regional Commercial Manager – East based in Kolkata.

Key Deliverables:

Responsible for adhering and implementing all the commercial and financial policies to the region. Taking care of establishment of office administration to the region.

Support and guidance to the sales team and distributors within organization policy. Correspond and liaise with customers / dealers for their queries and visit in regular interval.

Taking care of all the regional expenses with annual budget and report for the same to management.

Supervising and monitoring invoicing, banking, delivery schedule, schemes for the month, dealer’s management of the entire region etc.

Heading a team of commercial, finance, administration and logistics for smooth operation of region.

Making provisions of funds related to region’s requirement and do the necessary arrangement for the same.

Responsible for credit management and implementation of credit control policy as well as monthly review of customer’s outstanding for timely realization and aggressively follow up for the same.

Handling all the audits in region along with distributor’s audit for supply, price, quality, storage, etc.

Taking care of legal compliance of the region and ensuring all sales tax related payments are made on time and filing of sales tax returns, review liabilities, taking care of appeal & assessment etc.

Representing company on various legal issues related to East Region.

Accountable for induction and training to new employees on commercial aspects of the organization.

Controlling CFA operations, ensuring delivery as per company guidelines, monthly stock taking, stock audit and ensuring proper storage of materials.

Looking after accounting process along with T & E of all employees, staff welfare, printing & stationeries etc. for the region adhering company guidelines.

Looking after commercial contracts to ensure best and competitive deals.

Key Highlights:

Managed to reduced regional expenses by 14% last year.

Commission on sales to CFA was reduced drastically by presenting own opinion to management, it was wrongly paying approx double of the Indian standards.

Implement WEB Ordering System to all distributors which minimize the chance of error and also make the entire process faster without any follow up which make the customers satisfied.

Managed a team of 8 members.

Completed sales tax assessment till 2008-09 and VAT Audit of 2009-10.

Selected one of the best performers as senior managers in Roche Diagnostics and attend the Leadership Development Program at MDI, Gurgaon.

Jul’03-Jul’07 at Apollo Tyres Ltd., worked in West Bengal, North East and Jharkhand as Commercial Incharge
