American Appliance Products is the major U.S. manufacturer of oven racks for numerous oven producers such as Whirlpool, Maytag, General Electric, and Frigidaire. In addition wire grills for Carrier Corp air conditioners are produced with total annual sales of $36M.

• Reduced manufacturing overhead from 27%/ sales to 24%/ sales with annual savings of $864,000.

• Implemented Lean techniques including One Piece Flow, 5S, Kan Ban and Kaizen events.

• Completed successful start-up of 13 new products for Frigidaire in a three-month time span, annual sales value of $7M & 78 new parts for Carrier Corp with sales value of $ 12M.

Parker Hannifin Corporation is a $6.513 producer of motion control equipment. The Gear Pump Division specializes in Hydraulic Gear Pumps for the mobile hydraulics market.

• Launched the Lean Enterprise efforts of the Gear Pump Division at all three facilities - Sarasota, FL, Youngstown, OH, and Kings Mountain, NC. Conducted Kaizen Events, implemented LDMS, started 5S Programs, Kan Ban Systems and initiated One Piece Flow.

• Completed the relocation of 5 different product lines between 4 gear pump facilities located in the U.S.A and 1 in Mexico. These moves included the transfer of machine tools, inventory coordination and technology required for a successful startup.

European Consolidation Manager/Plant Manager, Chemnitz, Germany (1998-2000)

Managed a 250-employee gear and piston pump manufacturing facility and completed the consolidation of two European facilities.

• Coordinated the consolidation of the Ultra Pump Manufacturing Facility in Chelthenham, England, annual sales of $36M, into the Chemnitz Germany Manufacturing Facility.

• Relocated 125 major machine tools, including a RGV-FMS Hitachi-Seiki line of machining centers, 2 sets of Toyoda Robotic Gear Grinding Cells and 4 automatic bar fed lathes with robotic unloaders.

• Achieved successful startup of product transferred to Germany with no interruption in deliveries.

• Analyzed product mix between German and English operations and determined a consolidation of operations was required. Note: Included reviewing labor rates and plant performance data.

• Successful on time startup of manufacturing facility including fabrication and coating of sheet metal parts and final assembly.

• Maintained daily production requirements while transferring 4 additional product lines from Union facility to non-union facility. Improved production from 600 to 1000 units per day - a 40% increase.

• Introduced the concept of "rapid die change-over" to all sheet metal fabrication operations. The goal was to achieve single minute exchange of dies (SMED).
