• Oversaw and implemented accounting practice changes from cash basis to accrual basis for multi-million dollar telemarketing business for the blind and disabled.

• Lead the preparation of bringing over company-to-date accounts receivable balance from off-line system to the accounting system to give a more accurate picture of company performance.

CONTROLLER

Managed accounting department, human resources, internal controls, and external audits for both independent auditors and Defense Contract Auditing Agency (DCAA). Worked closely with CEO/President, project managers, divisional managers, department heads, clients, and vendors. Developed and maintained banking relationships with local banks.

Key Achievements:

• Structured and developed the accounting department. Decreased the time it took to close and finalize each month from 30 plus days to 15th of each month. In addition, held monthly meetings with management to review financial statements and point out areas for improvement.

• Lead two accounting software conversions in a twelve month period. Converted QuickBooks to ERP-GOV Cost Solutions, and converted ERP-GOV Cost Solutions to Deltek GCS Premier

• Created and developed annual company-wide budgets for overall company departments and customer jobs. Monthly reviewed performance on all jobs and reported to management significant variances

• Calculated company-wide overhead and general and administrative rates approved and accepted by DCAA. Educated management on the importance of the rates and held monthly meetings to identify ways to reduce both overhead and G&A rates.

Ensured timely wire transfers and deposits happened daily between cash accounts for daily operational use.

• Reconciled and identified over $1 million of unidentified variances within the operating cash account that took place over an 18 month period

Worked with Treasury to ensure timely recording of cash disbursements. Overall review of AP coding and ensuring there is adequate support provided by the AP clerk. • Organized and self-assessed Wisconsin Sales and Use Tax that reduced interest and penalties dating from 2004-2006 in the amount of $20-25K
