Working as a Software Engineer in the Traversa group writing java code. This job has given me experience with Websphere, Java, EJB’s and SQL/DB2. SYBASE, formerly NEW ERA OF NETWORKS (NEON), Englewood, Colorado 4/1999 – 11/2008

Senior Software Engineer

Worked as a Software Engineer focusing on Java backend application development with some C++

development.

• Provided core Java development, working on Sybase Data Federation product, a component of their Data Integration Suite. This product worked with Oracle, Sybase(ASE, ASA, and IQ), and MicroSoft SQL Server databases. This product ran inside the JBoss Application Server(J2EE application server). Gained good experience writing database SQL statements and since this product was capable of reading and writing XML files, I acquired valuable experience with XML. Involved in producing and maintaining the build system which was used to not only build the product but also perform a functionality test on the built system. Produced documentation on the use of our build system for new users and also produced documentation on how to use and modify our supplied system.

• Developed JMS API, working with a good share of the application servers, including WebLogic, MQSeries and EAServer(Sybase). JMS API was written in C++ with an JNI layer to talk to a Java layer using the JMS API. Have installed, setup queues and tested with the WebLogic Server.

• Wrote and performed testing using JUnit and TestNG.Member of a team which created a data transformation API written in Java. This product was written to take data, whether it be dates,

strings, numeric data, etc. and translate it into whatever format the user wanted(for example, all

mm/dd/yy translated to YYddd). The key was to do this efficiently so much testing was performed to streamline the translation code.

• Supported Java test system used to test Sybase ETL product(ETL product written in C++).

• Provided ongoing support to IBM for New Era of Networks Rules and Formatter product(IBM resales this product as an add on option to their WebSphere product).

• Created Functional Specification Documents and Detail Design Documents.

Previous 4 years at New Era of Networks. Primarily worked on the New Era of Networks products including their EBiz Integrator and their Rules and Formatter engine(Middleware products). These products were written in C++.

Transitioned NEON products into Sybase products by bringing them up to Sybase standards. Products include the EBiz Integrater (Message Broker), BizTracker(Message Broker + auditing functionality) and OpenTransport (message transportation). OpenTransort provided a single API to get/put messages to multiple queuing systems such as MQSeries, File, MSMQ and Jaguar.

• Produced NEON’s eBiz Integrator on all platforms. EBiz Integrator was available on Windows, UNIX (Solaris, HP) and Linux operating systems.

• Internationlized several of our products. This required us to externalize any text data displayed to external files which were then used to read and display the appropriate message.

• Performed maintenance and enhancements to middleware products across multiple platforms (NEONet Rules/Formatter).

• Participated in MVS Group porting code from UNIX to OS/390 MVS.
