Duties Performed.

Authorized to work on extra high tension lines and equipments such as, heavy alternators, power transformers, protection and measuring transformers and equipments, circuit breakers and isolators, power and control cables, power line carrier communication, relays and meters, current and potential transformers , issuing and cancellation of work permits , prepare cost data and estimation, award of tenders, measuring works and contract bills, attending shift duty as shift engineer whenever required.

Prepare design sketches for 400/220/ 110/66/11 KV lines, substation design, feeder duct bank and voltage conversion cut over circuit work.

Perform all of the same functions as primary high tension and secondary medium and lower-level voltages and transformer stations including the Design engineering. Provide work leadership to design staff up to and including design technicians. Provide technical direction to other staff as required.

Starting, running, stopping, observing operational procedures of hydro electric turbines, developing voltage and synchronizing machine into the grid, load control, water level, inflow and out flow chart, hydraulic calculations , operating CBs and isolators earth switches, machine performance watching, water valves and penstocks, surge tank and piping, governors, turbine blades and gate openings, heat and ventilations, cooling pipes and towers, air conditioning, staff control, power house maintenance , pay roll of staff, log books and records for generation, export and import power management load shedding, load dispatching, transformers and switch yard equipment control, communication with grid centre and load variations. Over all charge of the station.

Conduct field studies, perform technical administrative duties, design and prepare cost estimates for a variety of 11 KV transformer stations, single and three phase distribution projects such as underground relocations, renewals and industrial subdivisions, design and job acceptance of primary services, voltage conversions; including other work such as underground distribution for industrial , commercial and residential consumers subdivisions, overhead and underground commercial and industrial subdivisions, including secondary service voltage conversions extensions and services; single and three phase overhead and underground subdivisions, overhead transformers, structures ,pole construction , renewal projects and street lighting requirements; prepare and administer associated work contracts.

Prepare of estimates, fixing pre-qualifications for contractors, awarding tenders of contract work of the substation construction and extra high tension transmission lines connected with substations and provide cost estimates for capital work under consideration. Provide high level electrical engineering input into the project and develop key electrical deliverables.
