Corporate Project Manager / Engineer

Manage hurricane mitigation replacement and retrofit projects (shuttering, impact resistance glass, structural etc.) for various projects with responsibility for ensuring completion of projects in compliance with quality standards and specifications. Obtain product approvals from test labs, prepare construction budget estimates, bid packages, contractors and Architects selection process, coordinate weekly meetings with end users, and interact with structural engineers, Architects, special inspectors for special projects.

Projects included: Baptist Healthcare Medical Arts Buildings 1 & 2 ($1.5+ million Wind Retrofit Project), ($600,000+ Atrium Skylight Protection Project), Doral Data Center structural enhancement project and roof joist reinforcement ($5,5+ million) Doctors Hospital main building and Medical Arts Building window, doors, louvers, garage doors, roof replacement ($3+ million), Corporate office headquarters curtain wall replacement, replaced the entire curtain wall for a six story building and roof equipment tie downs ($4.5 million), Mariners Hospital flood mitigation installation of flood doors, sump pumps to protect the entire hospital for storm surge mitigation ($2.2 million) South Miami Hospital North Tower roof/water infiltration issues ($2.3 million), South Miami Hospital Education Center armor screen shutters installation ($35,000), South Miami employee parking Garage structural cracks ($3+ Million). Administered and managed all FEMA funded mitigation project with fundings exceeding ($15+ million). Managed Public assistance Disaster funding for damaged facilities. Conducted a study and final report to determine flood zones for all Baptist Health facilities with updated FEMA flood insurance Rate Maps.

Engineering Unit Supervisor

Managed application review process for Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs and supervised fourteen engineers and a staff assistant. Worked with Region IV FEMA and Region XI LTRO to devise policies and procedures to expedite review process after four statewide disasters in 2004. Also supervised annual Flood Mitigation and Pre-Disaster Mitigation Programs and served as Public Assistance Coordinator during disasters.

Processed 98% of project reviews for 800+ applications ($350 million) within ten months including completion of Benefit/Cost analyses in spite of considerable time constraints and pressure, and obtained FEMA technical approval for all projects.

Conducted Benefit/Cost Training for GovernorÕs Hurricane Conferences and for all Florida Counties, and prepared Cost and Specification Manual on Selecting Generators and Transfer Switches for use by local governments.
