Resume of Work Done

Brief details of Fieldwork:

Programme! Activities Undertaken during the Period 1993 to Jan 99.

1. BLOOD DONAR MOTIV ATION PROJECT

The project was organized by Programme Officer, DR. A. T. Kannan and Dr. Neelam Dhingra, U.C.M.S. & G.T.B. Hospital. In this project we motivated people to donate on voluntary basis and save life of others.

2. RAPID COVERAGE ASSES$MENT SURVERY PROJECT

The project was undertaken by Dr. A. T. Kannan and Dr. Neelam Dhingra, Dr. Poonam Budhiraja, U.C.M.S. & G.T.B. Hospital. In this project there are sections

I) CHILD COVERAGE SECTION: This section have three parts

i) Children under 5 years

ii) Children under 12- 23 years

iii) Children between 6 years and 11 years.

i) Children under 5 years: In this section, I did survey about the children suffered with diarrhoea, cough, measles etc. The treatment they sought either by private doctor, Govt. doctor or any other sources.

ii) Children under 12- 23 years: Survey was done about immunization of children whether they were fully immunized or not. If yes, with in due period or not. Whether they eat any green/ yellow leafy vegetable/ fruit. Weight of baby at the time of birth. When breast feeding started after birth. At what age regular food started.

iii) Children between 6 years and 11 years: Survey regarding how many children enrolled in schools and reason for those who were not enrolled. How many children have goitre?

II) MOTHER COVERAGE SECTION: How many deliveries in the last one year in that particular area, who conducted it. Attendants washed hands with soaps or not. Whether a clean/ new blade was used or not. If yes, how many? Interval between two pregnancies, what family planning method they used and how many months continuously?

3. UNIVERSITY TALK AIDS PROJECT

This project was organized by the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of H.R.D. In this I did survey about the basis facts that how many people have knowledge of AIDS & HIV? How did they first learn about AIDS or not? Information about common problems of growing up process, menstruation, family planning means and contraception. Basic facts about sex and sexuality. Is sex education is compulsory or not?

3. Survey in Kardampuri when the met with an accident or gas leakage. I did survey about the problems of the people after gas leakage. What are the after effects? How many people were died? What safety measures were taken afterwards? And interviewed those people.

4. Project entitled "An Epidemiological And Sociological Study Of Symptomatic And Asymptomatic RTlsl STls Among Urban Slum" This project was funded by Rockefeller Foundation USA, at Department of Community Medicine, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi- 110 002.

Duration of project: August 1996 – Nov 2000 In this project there are six phases.

I) Preparatory Phase activities.

II) Qualitative study.

III) Development of the test instrument for the KABP study & Establishing criteria for clinical & lab diagnosis.

IV) Quantitative survey

V) Qualitative study- 2

VI) Concluding phase

I) Preparatory phase activities: Training, Module development, conducting training, development protocol qualitative study.

II Qualitative study: in depth interviews, Key informants, Other respondent, Focus Group.

III) Development of the test instrument for the KABP study & Establishing

criteria for clinical & lab diagnosis: Analysis qualitative data, Formulation of interview, questionnaire KABP study, Establishment of standard criteria for clinical and lab diagnosis: - After the collection, the lab diagnosis & clinical diagnosis revealed presence of RTI's in among slum women like- Clamydia Trachomatis, Candidiasis, Bacterial Vaginosis, HBs Ag, etc.

IV) Quantitative survey: Census, KABP survey, clinical lab. Examination and follow up cases.

V) Qualitative study-2: Case studies of the ladies.

VI) Concluding phase: Final data Analysis, Preparation and dissemination of report.
