Developed a series of long, medium and short oil Alkyd emulsions for various coating applications. Developed Acrylics and hybrid resins, introduced test procedure to reduce cycle time. Provided full scale up and production support. Played active role in technology transfer, scale up and production as a result of acquisition of Alkyd business. Key accomplishments:

• Developed and commercialized surfactant free self-dispersing hybrid alkyd and its water based dispersion for coating industries with to start water-based business for the company.

• Developed and commercialized acrylic resin for concrete coating.

• Developed various surfactant based long, medium and short oil alkyd emulsions for coating industries.

• Developed high adhesion alkyd resin to increase sales.

Developed a hybrid polyamide/polyurethane resin for lamination with higher bond-strength for printing inks, Styrene Maleic Anhydride resins for coatings and inks, polyamide microdispersions, polyamide for adhesives, UV curable resins for printing inks and coatings, emulsion polymers, solution acrylics and water based dispersions. Reformulated existing resins for better performance properties and regulatory requirements. Provided scale-up, production and product development supports. Worked on the synthesis, scale-up and productions of epoxy ester, acrylics, polyamides, polyesters, polyurethane and hybrid resin technologies. Key accomplishments:

• Developed and commercialized polyurethane for lamination and printing ink as a specialty polymer to increase sales and profit.

Synthesized and characterized emulsion polymers for Wood, Mirrorback and Electro-coatings, water-based acrylic modified epoxy and epoxy ester dispersions for Mirrorback coating and polyester for coil coatings.

DOE experiments on Camile to synthesize Polymers. Provided scale-up, production and product development and coating formulation supports. Key accomplishments:

• Designed and synthesized self cross-linking isocyanate functional polyurethane latex by emulsion polymerization for industrial coatings to replace existing two pack system - was ready for patent disclosure.

• Synthesized acrylic modified alkyd dispersions using polymerizable surfactant technology for mirror-back coatings to increase sales and profit.

Prepared polystyrene nanoparticles of uniform size and shape in microemulsions. Developed acrylic copolymers of desired porosity and hydrophilic-hydrophobic character by microemulsion polymerization for applications in separations.
