Top 3 Skills: Communications, problem solving, reliability

Education: Mohawk College: Chemical Engineering Technology (3 year course) 1975 -1978

Language Skills: Fluent in English (mother tongue)

PROFILE

I am looking for either a Quality Systems Professional or Production Supervisor / Manager type position: I finished off a 2 month contract for Brannon Steel in Brampton as the Quality Systems Coordinator (contract cancelled due to lack of work). Previously I worked in the steel industry for 28 years, in the quality assurance field and production management areas at HSB Corp (formerly Slater Steel Inc.). I am looking for new position with another company because HSB closed in May 2007 due to financial difficulties. For the past 16 years there, I worked as the quality liaison supervisor between the laboratories and production supervisors and their crews, in the two main production areas in the plant. I was also directly responsible for the metallurgical, physical and chemical laboratory personnel, on a shift to shift basis. Education consists of a three year Chemical Engineering Technology course at Mohawk College. I was also involved in writing and monitoring Standard Operating Procedures, ISO9001, ISO14001 and QS9000 specifications through-out the plant plus assisting in resolving customer complaints. Over the last year at HSB, I have been involved in the implementation phases of getting the lab areas up-dated for TS 16949, which was obtained in late 2006.

CAREER OBJECTIVES

I wish to advance through the Quality Systems hierarchy, to becoming the Quality Manager to whom all quality aspects in the plant are reported, enhance the overall quality being produced at all times, eliminating the need for rework or scrapping of material. I hope to assist in attaining all requires Standards necessary to supply the automotive industry, whether Big 3 or transplant automotive operations. I am also interested in other companies with different standards, to assist and maintain their required Quality Standards. I am also interested in the production end of the industry as either a production supervisor or manager.

JOB KEYS

Quality Assurance throughout the Manufacturing Processes, Laboratory Management, Production Leadership, Inventory Control, Complaint Resolution, Environmental Control, New Equipment and Process Evaluation, Leadership with regard to Safety and Instruction.

Hands on technical expertise focused on results with attention to details. Good problem solving, decision making and instructional facilities. Good communicator and team player with excellent leadership and instructional skills. Quality focused with customer requirements driven plus bottom-line driven.

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

. Monitored labs and production areas to verify they were following Standard Operational Procedures. Ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures were being followed reduced or eliminated the chance of producing substandard material in lieu of having to rework or remake material.

. Wrote up Standard Operating Procedures for Metallurgical Lab for Ford Q1 originally and then edited these for ISO9001, QS9000, ISO14001 and TS16949. These procedures were required to meet customer requirements and supply material to these customers. Company obtained Ford Q1, ISO 9001, QS 9000, ISO14001 and TS 16949on first attempts for company.

. Followed up on customer complaints. Needed to resolve complaints and find out the root causes so could eliminate the causes so problems would not re-occur. Fulfilled mandate from QS 9000 and ISO 9001 so that non-conforming material was neither being produced nor shipped.

. Involved in trial work with different suppliers. Helped in running trials to determine if products met requirements as stated by suppliers and if product reduced cost and improved quality. Switched to new products when criteria stated met or exceeded requirements.

. Coordinated all quality-related activities in all areas of the plant on a shift to shift basis. Evaluated non-conforming product, to determine if material required rework or scrapping. Prevented substandard material from going downstream or to customer and reduced problems in other areas of the plant.

. Coordinated with Area General Managers with regard to any non-conforming material produced, on a shift to shift basis. Material was taken out of main stream and identified. Saved samples of non-conforming material and informed Managers of conditions observed. Prevented material from being further processed without approval or further testing to determine if applicable to end-use.

. Reported directly to Quality Manager about shift production on a daily basis. Highlighted any issues related to quality of production. Noted any questionable material, failure to follow procedures, etc. Led to better control or further follow-up with operating personnel to ensure proper procedures were being followed.

. Assisted Quality Analyst with new internal production orders. Perused new Internal Production orders to make sure testing requirements were correct and available to labs and operations. Reduced amount of material produced which did not meet requirements or had to be recalled for further testing. Reduced delay time for shipments.
