Selected Accomplishments
R apidly assessed small business needs and aided organizations. Upgraded or launched various business systems in
n umerous markets dependent upon the requirements of the organization. Systems included: aerospace Nadcap quality, ISO,
lean manufacturing, marketing, financial, workplace standardization, human resources, employee engagement, process
i mprovement, engineering efficiencies, and etc.
Eliminated ingot processing waste for Alcoa, saving $8M in costly imported materials. Redesigned quality and
p roduction systems to incorporate preventative maintenance, process change, and waste elimination. Increased productivity
30% while decreasing cost per pound 10%. Improved product quality 60% earning designation with several customers as a
P referred Provider. Eliminated imported materials and reduced production costs, saving $8M.
I ncreased productivity 15% at Alcoa production plant through work standardizations. T rained supervisors to
u tilize standardized work profiles to measure efficiency of employees and production lines. Improved moral of employees
t hrough clearly defined expectations. Unified efforts of plant personnel, increasing productivity 48 million pounds annually
w ith better quality control.
Launched quality control system, reducing quality defects 40% and saving $3M annually in rejects. A udited
over 100 identified production processes, setting standards for each. Won confidence of technical staff by demonstrating that
t he system would not increase their workload. Implemented system meeting 80% of the standards within three months.
Benefits to Alcoa exceeded $3M annually by reducing defective products and improving customer relations.
Reduced cycle times for preheat furnaces, saving $2M and eliminating bottleneck in production line. U tilized
I SO standards to identify production problems and design process improvements. Reduced furnace cycle times by 20%
t hrough utilization of different alloys. Lowered natural gas expenses 12%. Cut thermocouple failures in half with new
p rocedures. Saved in excess of $2M annually with improved processes.
D esigned improvement to product design, strengthening customer relationships for Alcoa. A lcoa sold
a luminum to the canned drink industry. Researched ways to improve product line for customers. Reduced thickness of rolled
a luminum 3.5% allowing customers to increase the number of cans per pound of aluminum. Received recognition from
A nheuser Busch and Crown Cork and Seal.
Career History
B usiness Advisor / Consultant, 2003 – Present. Industries included: aerospace and automotive anodizing and chemical conversion
coating, NDT, environmental, home design, hospitality, landscape arts, construction, interior decorating and remodeling, and orthodontia.
I dentified gaps and facilitated and assisted with closing them.
Alcoa, I nc. S uperintendent of Operations, 1998 – 2003. Recruited to lead two business units including the ingot
p roduction plant and the railroad line connecting the plant supply line. Managed operating budget of $20M and a staff of 70.
I mplemented Lean Manufacturing principles to control costs, reduce inventories, and increase production.
Alcoa, I nc. M etallu rgical Specialist, 1995 – 1999. Selected to develop quality standards for production using ISO and
I CC procedures. Reduced defects by 40% saving $3M annually. Improved profitability by analyzing processes, improving
p roduction process and efficiency.
Alcoa, I nc. Senior Staff Metallu rgist, 1993 – 1995. Drove new product design and development. Identified inefficiencies
i n production process and increased production 20%. Reduced natural gas consumption 12% through redesign of process.
Saved an estimated $2M annually.
Early career at Alcoa included rapid promotions through metallurgical management positions. Previously employed by National-Standard and Explosive
Technology.
