Project Name : Retail Data Warehouse

Client : Costco Companies, USA

Description:

The Costco Company is one of the largest retail food companies in the United States as measured by total annual sales. We span many states with store formats that include grocery and multi-department stores, convenience stores and mall jewelry stores. The main objective of the project is to design and build a data warehouse for query & analysis purpose to take effective decisions. Data was extracted from Flat files Source transformed and loaded to Staging Area and Staging Area to Warehouse

Responsibilities:

Developed Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Scripts for SIT and support for UAT tests Used DATASTAGE as an ETL Tool for Developing the Data Warehouse.

Managed and conducted System testing, Integration testing and Functional testing.

Used the Designer to develop processes for extracting, cleansing, transforming, integrating and loading data into data warehouse database.

Extensively worked with DS (Designer, Director and Manager).

Used the DATA STAGE Director and its run-time engine to schedule the jobs, validating and debugging its components, and monitoring the resulting executable versions.

Tracked the defects using Clear Quest tool and generated defect summary reports.

The client wanted to start the Global Data warehouse to meet its analytical reporting and decision support requirements. The Main objective of the GDW is to Increase business efficiency through a centralized global view of holdings, transactions and trade and facilitate global exposure analysis, global compliance etc. Increase Data Quality by centralized data quality monitoring and understand the different source System/s that resides on diverse platforms, Development of an interface to integrate Business Objects reports.

Description:

The American National Insurance Company is a leading provider of life insurance, automobile, homeowner’s products and business insurance. The scope of this project was to build a Data Mart for claims division, which would meet the reporting requirements of all the business functions within the scope of operations. The project involved extracting data from different sources and loading the data into the Data Mart.
