PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

June 2011-Present – Quality Manager – Soundwich Inc. – Cleveland, OH – Automotive metal stamped products manufacturer specializing in automotive heat shields, acoustic and vibration dampening body components. Reports to the President.

Recruited to bring a quality management system that had fallen from TS compliance, back to registration compliance for a TS 16949 audit. One (1) major and six (6) minor findings were corrected, implemented and approved in under 2 months. Since that time we are well on our way to full implementation of a true “Process/ Objective Based Approach” QMS from what had become a “silo/ procedure” based system.

The implementation included the definition of true QMS Process “objectives” that are measured and acted upon. My role of Quality Manager at Soundwich consisted of Leading a four member, multiple shift quality department. Establishing solid problem solving/ corrective actions on many product/ process quality issues that had cost the company much resources and profit was crucial as there were many. Since June 2011 when I started in the role, internal and external sort costs have dropped by approximately 50%.

A Supplier Performance Measurement process that had also not been used in more than 2 years was improved, and re-implemented.

August 2008-June 2011 – Quality Manager – Talan Products Inc. – Cleveland, OH – Contract metal stamping and assembly products manufacturer providing products to the automotive, roofing/ construction and solar power industries. Reported to the President.

Recruited to take the company’s certified ISO 9000 based quality system to the “next level”. I Managed a two shift, 4 member quality department. Provided leadership and training for the Lean program and improvement projects. Implemented a fully functional “Process/ Objective based QMS” from a “silo/ procedure” based QMS. Lead the QMS transition from the ISO 9001: 2000 QMS to ISO 9001: 2008 and was acting Management QMS representative. Achied zero (0) audit findings for all 3 years I was with the company.

• Implemented a simple yet effective Vendor performance Monitoring/ Improvement program that was instrumental in reducing the “total” supplier PPM from approximately 13,000 to under 1500 PPM within a 24 month time frame. Supplier delivery also improved from approximately 80% to just over 96% within the same time frame.

• Helped developed and implement the company’s lean manufacturing program including a successful 5S program.

• As a result of a scrap reduction/ process improvement initiative, internal scrap costs dropped by almost 67% from $12000per month to roughly $4000 per month.

• Developed and implemented a multi-step, formal, disciplined Product Quality planning (APQP) planning process. A QMS process metric was developed to compare the planned (quoted costs/ rates) to the actual/ achieved as a measure of effectiveness.
