26 Ward Flow distribution structure

Responsible for analysis, design and preparation of detailed drawing for 40 feet deep in-ground structure 29 x 57 ft footprint.

Top slab system was designed for gantry crane loads in addition to uniform live loads. Using ACI 350 concrete wall is designed for seismic load including hydrodynamic pressure of contained liquid (sloshing). Other components were designed as checkered plates, concrete corbel supporting gate operator system.

Port Jervis Waste Water Treatment Plant Upgrade,

Responsible for analysis of 65 years old existing 17 ft deep in-ground structure (trickling filter). Normal service condition and 100-ye

ar flood event were considered. STAAD were used for the analysis of concrete wall loads including surcharge of (HS-20) vehicle. Recommendations were given and new top slab replacement was designed.

City Wide Combined Sewer Facility

Responsible for design of Aluminum two levels service platform structure and preparing design modification to other existing structures.

Jerome Park Reservoir Upgrade

Responsible for the design of stainless steel cover plates & supporting beams for floor openings at chlorine cylinder storage area of gatehouse No.5

Responsible for field inspection of 40 existing concrete chlorination tanks, prepare a report of finding & repairs details.

Newark Arena Newark, NJ.

Structural Engineer responsible for construction coordination with the contractor, review and coordination of construction documents and shop drawings for 180,000 foot-square Stadium.

The Structure consisted of stepped frames (bents) spaced approximately at 42 feet OC.; one main feature of these bents is the cantilever trusses that support two levels. Bents are made of cast in place columns and beams up to the main concourse level and then transition into structural steel. Lateral resistance is provided by moment frame created within the bent by steel columns and girders at each bent and by 20” thick shear wall in one bent bay below main concourse at every third bent.

New York State Department of Transportation, Old Route 94 Bridge Replacement, Orange County NY.

Structural engineer responsible for the design / details of the bridge replacement, pre-stressed superstructure founded on concrete abutment skewed at 30 degree angle on Rt. 94.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority, Garden State Parkway widening, Cedar Creek Bridge Replacement,

Responsible for the design of three lanes 85ft bridge according to New Jersey Turnpike Authority and New Jersey Department of Transportation Authority specifications.

Structural Engineer responsible for assisting with engineering services for a state-of-the-art solid waste management facility. Responsible for the design of push walls to withstand lateral pressures from waste and impacts from forklift equipment, and other structural elements.

Glen Cove Wastewater Management Facility, Glen Cove, NY, Waste Management.

Structural Engineer responsible for load analysis and providing details of modifications required to the concrete tipping floor of the transfer station. Services involved investigating the current loading capacity of the concrete slabs, including coring; design repairs for slabs; evaluating contractor bids; and overseeing construction.

Northport Wastewater Treatment Plant, Northport, NY, Village of Northport.

Structural Engineer responsible for providing design-related services for upgrades to the Village of Northport’s wastewater treatment plant to increase its capacity while maintaining reliable treatment. Work included the design of a 31-foot-square, 17-foot-deep, in-ground, reinforced concrete equalization tank on a pile foundation.

Hawthorne Avenue School, Newark, NJ, Newark Public Schools. Structural Engineer responsible for the design of the addition to the School, which was originally constructed in 1896

Babylon Station Renovation, Babylon, NY, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).

Structural Engineer for improvements to this heavily used LIRR station in Suffolk County. Under this contract, the existing station was completely demolished and replaced with a new station. Structural design features included grade beams supported on existing pile caps and the use of the underside of an existing viaduct as the station roof. The project also involved replacing existing stairs and used staged construction.

Maintenance-of-Equipment Shop, Arch Street Yard, East Side Access Project, Queens, NY, Long Island Rail Road. Project Structural Engineer responsible for the design of the 44ft by 160ft equipment maintenance shop. The shop contained inspection pits, inspection platforms, crane rails, monorails, and mezzanines for office space. Structural framing included moment frames to accommodate large bays for rail traffic.

Engineering Support Building, Arch Street Yard, East Side Access Project, Queens, NY, Long Island Rail Road. Project Structural Engineer responsible for the design of this steel-framed building, which included a basement. Ground floor slabs and basement walls had to be designed to withstand the hydrostatic pressure from the high water table at the site. The building was founded on steel piles.

Locust Valley Firehouse Additions, Locust Valley, NY, Locust Valley Fire District. Structural Engineer responsible for the design of the two-story 4,100 square feet addition, featuring a large first floor garage bay and a second floor meeting room/classroom for fire awareness. Also designed a slab on grade able to withstand the weight of fire trucks, as well as designing foundations.

George Washington Bridge Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Installation, New York, NY, and Fort Lee, NJ, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Structural Engineer responsible for the design of 26 nonstandard variable message sign (VMS) support structures, including overhead cantilever, and structure-mounted types, which were designed using VMS structure guidelines based on current research performed by Lehigh University. Work also included closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other ITS elements.

Lockwood Greene Engineering and Construction, New York, NY (February 1998- April 1998)

Federal Express Building at 11th Avenue and 34th Street, New York, NY, Federal Express. Structural Engineer responsible for the analysis of this 70-year-old building with a basement to determine if it could accommodate heavier truck loads. The structure is reinforced concrete slabs supported by steel members. Generated details for reinforcing the overstressed members and connections.

Jamnagar Refinery Project, Coker Unit, Jamnagar, India, Reliance Petroleum, Ltd. Structural Engineer responsible for designing crane girders to support a coke-handling bucket crane unit with a 24-ton capacity. Also designed several pipe racks and platforms for the same project.

Chemical Development Pilot Plant Expansion, Upper Providence, PA, SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals. Structural Engineer responsible for the analysis and design of a 10,340-square-foot, two-story, steel structure. Performed computer analyses using STAAD III software for rigid space frames for the building. Also analyzed gravity, wind, seismic, and blast loads and designed damage-limiting concrete masonry walls.

STV/ Seelye, Stevenson, Value & Knecht, NY (1989-1992) & (1993-1996)

Grand Central Terminal Renovation, New York, NY, Metro-North Railroad. Structural Engineer responsible for performing a visibility study and an in-depth inspection to determine the adequacy of terminal elements and reproducing the original structural drawings on AutoCAD for this 78-year-old landmark.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Baltimore, MD, Maryland Department of Transportation, Maryland Aviation Administration. Team Designer for a new $73 million, 450,000-square-foot terminal with a six-gate concourse. Responsible for wind analyses and design of rigid and braced frames and design of foundations, including spread / combined footings, and pile caps.

New Scotland Avenue Laboratory, Albany, NY. Team Designer for this 202,000-square-foot, multistory building on a mat foundation. Responsible for providing computer wind analyses using STRUDL software for rigid and braced frames for this building.

Grassland Maximum Security Prison, Valhalla, NY. Team Designer for this new 254,000-square-foot building. Designed reinforced concrete retaining walls, metal deck floors, columns, and base-plates.

Tectonic Engineering Consultant, P.C., Highland Mills, NY (1992)

Structural Engineer responsible for analysis and design services on various projects. Work included analyzing an existing 200-foot-high, steel communications tower to determine its capacity to support a new microwave antenna system and platform by means of both hand calculations and computer analyses using RISA software. Other tasks included designing foundations, spread footings, and grade beams and slabs on grade; reviewing the design of reinforced concrete cantilever retaining walls; and analyzing various types of existing floor systems and designing reinforcements for inadequate floors in equipment rooms.

EBASCO Services, Inc., New York, NY (1986-1988)

Structural Engineer responsible for finite element analyses for various structural components Work involved analyzing cable tray hangers; heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) duct supports; and dynamic and static loads. It also included performing a time history analysis and seismic evaluations for equipment bases at a power station, as well as conducting a pipe rupture analysis at a steam electric station.
