Familiar with design codes, software such as CAD and Microstation, Projects, and MS office.

Project Specific Experience

• 2,500 ft long Retaining walls (between Lehigh Street and Huntington Street) design for I-95 expansion project around Girard Avenue of Philadelphia for PennDOT from January, 2009 through September 2010. The project included rerouting Conrail over Richmond Street and interchange expansion. My role includes soil and rock identification and classification, subsurface profile development, concrete retaining wall design, including loads combination design, wall design and stability analysis (slope, bearing capacity) based on the best design options. Code used: AASHTO design manual, LFD abutment and retaining wall design Version 5.4, etc. ASD design and LRFD design methods were both used due to the request of property owner (Conrail);

• MSEW Retaining wall design and sound wall design for PA Turnpike NE extension expansion project from January, 2009 through September 2010. My role included project planning, soil and rock identification, subsurface profile establishment, MSEW retaining walls design and sound walls design. LRFD was utilized for this design by AASHTO.

• Mill Creek Diversion Tunnel Preliminary Investigation Project for USACE, Philadelphia District, Mar. 2009 to Jun. 2009. Rock classification and geophysical investigation, west of I-76, between Delaware county and Montogomery County.

• Instrumentation Monitoring Delaware River, Wilmington Harbor, Chesapeake & Delaware River Canal facilities for USACE Philadelphia District (Feb., 2009). Ms. Hu performed inclinometer reading and data process to evaluate the settlement and slope stability of landfill.

• UGI-LNG Tank and Facilities Geotechnical Investigation Project (June 10 to September 26, 2008), in limestone sinkhole prone area of Temple Plant of LNG, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Ms. Hu was involved in soil and rock core identification, lab testing, and shallow / mat foundation settlement analysis and micropile option pile analysis. The project included proposed tank of about 160 feet in diameter and 155 feet in height, associated piperacks and equipment pads, the compression load on the tank floor was about 3,700 psf of full height LNG and 4,700 psf due to hydrostatic test.

• Allegheny Ludlum New Rolling Technology geotechnical investigation project, (2008) soil and rock core identification and classification, lab testing, groundwater and river flood level data analysis, spread footing settlement analysis, steel pipe pile and H beams static and dynamic capacity analysis, soil property data analysis, site condition analysis, and report drafting.

• New Orleans East HPO Levee Upgrade Project (2007 to May 2010), lab and geotechnical boring data deduction and analysis, CPT data reduction and analysis, soil profile establishment, soil stress and shear strength estimation for staged construction, settlement analysis, levee design, wick drain design, geosynthetic reinforcement design and slope stability analysis.

• Gloucester County Landfill Cell 11 Lateral Expansion Project, measuring about 52 acres. (Dec 2007-Feb. 2008). My role in this project included lab data analysis, soil profile development, soil strength properties analysis, bearing capacity analysis, liquefaction analysis, settlement estimation, landfill design and stability analysis.

• Series of Projects for PECO Energy Company of Philadelphia, PA from Sep. 2004 through September 2010. Those projects includes Proposed Philadelphia Tunnel substation, Penrose Substation, Bradford Substation Improvements, Elroy Substation Improvements, Upper Merion Substation Improvements, Warrington Substation Improvements, Planebrook Substation Improvement, Chichester Substation Upgrade, Cromby Substation Upgrade, etc. My role in those projects included project planning and proposal preparation, field investigation inspection, soil and rock classification, field and lab tests planning, lab data analysis and subsurface profile development, foundation design recommendation and analysis (bearing capacity, settlement, lateral capacity analysis, compression and shear capacity analysis, and report writing.
