• Attended National Conference on “Immunology in Health & Disease 2006” which held in Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur.

• Poster Presentation on “A study of the variation in the metabolic activity of cells of the cervical epithelial tissue during early stages of cervical epithelial cancer (CIN I, II and (III) using fluorescence spectroscopy” at National Laser Symposium 2006, in Vellore India.

Research experience:

August 2007- June2010: I have worked as a Project Associate in the developmental biology laboratory, Department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering at IIT Kanpur, under the supervision of Dr. Jonaki Sen & Dr. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay.

May 2005- July2006: I have done work as a Research Assistant on Project entitled “A study of the variation in the metabolic activity of cells of the cervical epithelial tissue during early stages of cervical epithelial cancer (CIN I, II and (III) using fluorescence spectroscopy” under the supervision of Dr. Asima Pradhan, Associate Professor in Biomedical Optics Laboratory IIT Kanpur.

Techniques Known:

• Molecular Biology Techniques : Plasmid DNA isolation, bacterial transformation, Agarose gel electrophoresis. Isolation of RNA from Chicken Brains and Limbs. RT-PCR, Probe Preparation, Cloning, Primer designing.

• In-situ Hybridization: Whole mount in-situ and Section in-situ of Chicken tissues.

• Animal handling: Harvesting of Chicken Embryo, Brain, Eyes and Limbs from different stages.

• Cell culture techniques: Nutrient media preparation for DF-1 cells, Trypsinization, Transfection and virus preparation.

• Instruments Handling: Cryostat, Electrophoresis, PCR, Centrifuge, Electroporator, Microinjection, Compound Microscope, Fluorescence Microscope, Microtome, Tissue homogenizer, Needle Puller, Gel documentation.

• Software used: Editseq, Megalign, Vector NTI, Primer designing, Blast etc.

In support of my application:

As a student, I used to be proactive and enthusiastic to take up the Laboratory work that sums up Preparing Chemical Solutions, working with the Scientific Equipment, carrying out experiments and General Lab duties.

My love towards Biological Sciences led me pursue my postgraduate studies in Biochemistry, an area covering almost every field of Biological Sciences and which gives a wide range of career opportunities in Biotech Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, Biological Research and many other areas. And, I also work under time pressures in an attempt to ensure uninterrupted progress of the project.

It was really challenging and a great experience working on Molecular Techniques like PCR, Western Blotting, Handling DNA and RNA extractions, Cloning and Microbiological Techniques, Cell Culture and many others, during my project work at IIT-Kanpur.

I am very much interested in this post pertaining to all the above aspects and my interest towards Molecular Biology and Developmental Biology. I ensure my willingness to take training as and where required, which is absolutely out of my interest towards learning new techniques and laboratory skills and out of my enthusiasm for Laboratory work.
