Caterpillar Machine Order Processing System is modified whenever necessary to meet goals such as cost reduction, business growth or legal compliance.

Caterpillar Master Demand System,

Software Engineer May 2005 - July 2006.

The Master Demand System is a schedule of total facility independent demand including standard, attachment and miscellaneous materials. This facility established schedule extends for a fourteen month horizon.

The Executive Schedule, provided to the facilities by Pricing and Scheduling, forms the basis for the Master Demand System Schedule. It authorizes each facility to build a certain amount of standard models, attachments and product options per month. This schedule, combined with facility forecasted schedules, is called authorized demand. Authorized demand becomes actual demand when shipping order demands from Order Division are entered into the Master Demand System.

Authorized plus actual facility demand, including parts and interplant orders, equals the Master Demand Schedule. This demand must be updated and maintained in the Master Demand System to drive the Material Requirements Planning process. The Material

Requirements Planning process plans the orders for material procurement.

The Master Demand System maintains this schedule through on-line transactions and various output reports. These reports include both status and grief related information. The scheduling area of each facility uses these transactions and reports to:

o Replace authorized demand with actual demand

o Assign miscellaneous demand to the schedule

o Change the schedule from monthly to weekly increments

o Establish scheduling policies related to the facility individual practices.

Monitor problems arising from demand changes that affect scheduling.
