SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Laboratory Assistant, Specimen Processor
--Perform and prioritize specimen processing.
--Centrifuge, process, aliquot, label, freeze and package blood and plasma samples for testing.
--Prepare samples for shipment to reference or diagnostic labs for testing, or in some instances use in the manufacture of medications.
--Receive samples from all areas of the hospital and transport specimens to correct areas for testing.
--Register outreach patients, order tests, and fax results to ordering doctors.
--Perform QC, waived, and proficiency testing.
--Use proper setup and disposal of supplies and practice safety precautions day to day by following lab policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory agency (CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, DNV) requirements.
--In charge of keeping workspaces clean, maintained, organized, and safe for employees and donors.
--Chosen as designated lab trainer, which advised new hires on proper lab procedures.
Phlebotomy
--Successfully perform venipuncture on adults, children, and infants in a doctor’s office, outpatient clinic, or hospital setting, including, but not limited to, Dialysis, Medical/Surgical, and Telemetry Departments, Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, and Level I Trauma Center, outpatient under minimal supervision.
--Collect appropriate tubes, label, and, as necessary, process the appropriate samples for tests ordered.
--Coordinate shift phlebotomists to draw all stat, asap, and timed draws throughout the night, and during morning draws.
--Work with local police departments to perform legal blood draws of DUI's, either in the Emergency Dept, or during traumas.
--Use company computer systems to record or update patient demographics, billing information, and test orders to print test request forms.
--Develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, nurses, doctors, and other personnel.
--Answer phones to provide information, direct calls from nursing to correct lab departments, answer customer questions, and instruct patients on how to collect samples into provided containers.
--Gain hands on experience with patient interaction by responding to their needs.
--Use proper setup and disposal of supplies and practice safety precautions day to day by following lab policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory agency (CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, DNV) requirements.
--Ensure equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and organized manner.
