As a 911 operator I answered several calls for emergency and non-emergency situations, using a cad system to enter precise information to ensure officers safety and prompt response for the complainant.
My responsibility as a 311 operator were to answer non-emergency calls and take police reports on criminal events that happened where the complainant was not in any immediate danger. I also transferred callers to correct departments and correct agencies.
My duties as a teletype operator were to run suspects for officers to check for any previous involvements with the Austin Police Department. I was also in charge of communicating with other police agencies in the U.S. threw the teletype system. I also was in charge of entering and taking out warrants and missing persons in the national NCIC/TCIC system.
As a Dispatcher, my responsibilities were to receive calls from both 911 and 311 operators and relay information to the officers for prompt and safe responses. I was also in charge of knowing where the officers were at all times.
