(Job Description)

Performs and implements quality control program, updating monthly statistics and records of the examinations performed.

Keeps files records of Bacteriology examination results.

Maintains and checks requisition/inventory of reagents, equipment and other supplies.

Keeps files and record of patients and donors’ laboratory examination results.

Performs other related tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Able to operate different machines, maintain or troubleshoot equipment.

Bacteriology Unit:

Performs grams and AFB stain; inoculates specimen into their proper culture media. Identifies and isolates microorganisms.

Performs antibiotics susceptibility testing, identifies fungal elements.

Performs Biochemical examination for specific identification of microorganisms.

Prepares, weighs, sterilizes and dispenses culture media.

Performs water analysis.

Blood Banking, Serology and Immunology:

Can perform with speed and accuracy all laboratory examinations in the Blood Banking unit.

Performs ABO and Rh typing using direct and indirect method.

Performs blood cross matching using Broad Spectrum Compatibility Test.

Investigates Transfusion Reaction including patient’ pre and post transfusion blood sample n case of hemolytic type of reaction. Performs auto agglutination test and other test related to the unit.

Prepares different blood components.

Maintains stock of different blood components.

Performs screening test of possible donors and bleeds them.

Performs venipunctures, heelsticks and fingerpsticks, ensuring proper specimen for testing.

Distributes specimen to laboratory as soon as possible.

Maintains cleanliness of the Phlebotomy area checks inventory of equipment.

Hematology:

Performs CBC (Complete Blood Count), platelet, blood indices sing manual method and automated hematology analyzer, or with the use of unopette.

Identifies abnormal cells in peripheral smear and malarial parasites.

Performs other Hematological Test such as ESR, Bleeding time, Clotting Time, Prothrombin Time, APTT and special examination like L.E. cell preparation and other tests.

Performs and implements quality control, program ,updates monthly statistics and records of the examinations performed.

Clinical Microscopy:

Performs routine examinations such as urinalysis, fecalysis, semen analysis and examinations of different body fluids.

Clinical Chemistry:

Performs manual and automated determination of FBS, RBS, PPBS, OGTT, Urea nitrogen, creatinine, triglycerides, cholesterol, lipoprotein, electrolytes, choride, uric acid, total protein, SGOT, SGOT, alkaline phosphates, Bilirubin, stone analysis and others.

Performs chemical tests like urine, CSF, pleural acetic, synovial and other body fluids.

Performs immunochem exam such as thyroid panel, tumor markers, glycosylated hemoglobin, serum iron, ferritin and other tests.
