PHS stands for Personal Handy Phone System. This radio access technology is mainly used in Japan for providing last mile connectivity. NG-PHS is Next Generation PHS, which is 3.5G system designed specially for providing high data rate and high mobility.

Role: System Architecture Design contributing to the overall design of BS and PS, Technical Lead for MAC protocol team, coding, review, Integration and testing. Responsible for project management and customer Interface.

corDect Development

corDECT/EDWAS is a fixed WLL solution developed by Midas Technologies along with IIT-Madras and Analog Devices. This is a cost effective solution for providing last mile connectivity.

RBS Development Cycle

Relay Base Station, a propriety product of Midas, is an Active wireless repeater which is used to extend the range of corDECT to 70 km, from BTS. Involved in development of various features of RBS viz,

1. Remote Monitoring of Relay Base Station

Designed and developed Remote Monitoring feature for RBS. Work involved design & development of Application Layer and changes at MAC layer for realizing the same.

2. Improvisation of Channel Selection Algorithm of RBS.

Designed and developed a new channel selection algorithm (MAC Layer) which is more robust & dynamic, which will improve the performance of RBS in an interfering or error prone environment.

3. Fine Tuning of Software Modem at RBS

The Software modem, which is used to decode the on-air reception and identify DECT pattern, was fine tuned to produce more robust results in an interfering environment. Work involved understanding and debugging of physical layer signal processing algorithms and problems identification.

FST Development

FST (Field Survey Tool) is a proprietary product of Midas is a user friendly DECT based RF-Survey Tool used for Pre-Installation of corDect installation. Involved in development of ADSP based assembly drivers for LCD, Keypad, RTC, tailoring of MAC Layer

Development of device drivers for LCD, Keypad, RTC, GPS modules (in ADSP21xx assembly)

2. DECT Sniffer

Involved in Scan Mode wherein the FST acts as DECT sniffer and can listen to any DECT transmission, and display the DECT Physical and Mac Layer information to user which helps in installation and debugging. Work involves changes in Application, MAC, and Physical layer of FST for realizing the same.

3. RBS Configurator

Involved in development of RBS Configurator, wherein FST acts a tool to configure or upgrade RBS during RBS installation. This feature of FST replaces the Laptops which were earlier used to configure, upgrade or maintain RBS.
