Effective and skilled educator and presenter. Extensive experience in public presentation of scientific and historical research results to large scientific and non-scientific audiences. Self-motivated researcher with great interpersonal skills able to communicate results clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Able to work alone or in a team with equal proficiency. Quick learner who remembers concepts and is good at repetitive tasks. Experienced in selling in a highly dynamic environment handling many different products.

EDUCATION

BA, Biology and History, Chemistry Minor, Ave Maria University, Fl.
Graduation: July 2012.

EXPERIENCE

Ave Maria University Department of Biology, 2009-2011

Community Outreach Liaison. Responsible for contacting and coordinating educational elementary school visits/field trips. Developed lesson plans meant to convey complex biological information to groups of as many as 40 visiting grade school students by means of Power Point presentation, fun and engaging stories, and experimentation. Conducted field research on local water quality and laboratory/literature research on eutrophication. Designed a website for the program by means of HTML editing.

Research volunteer. Worked with HIV reverse transcriptase inhibitors to discover mechanisms of inhibition. Research required utilization of very small volumes (>15 l/reaction), electrophoresis, UV/Vis phosphorimetry, and fluorescent DNA dyes.

Research Intern (Phase I). Developed a four-step synthetic plan for Sotolone (maple syrup scent) from Isoleucine. Additionally, conducted research into developing a synthesis of a small spyrocyclic molecule via a Claisen Rearrangement intermediate. Utilized bench and wet chemistry for synthesis of intermediate products and analyzed reaction products for the presence of anticipated intermediates. Utilized analytical techniques including NMR and TLC frequently (many times per day). Purified Samples for analysis by Flash Chromatography. When the first reaction scheme was not sufficient for intended purpose, was moved on to another synthetic plan requiring extreme care in working with highly toxic and flammable reactants. After concluded research on this project, moved on to Phase II.

Research Intern (Phase II). Conducted research into MIPs (molecularly imprinted polymers) utilizing model small molecules, designed and executed original experiments with little supervision and within deadlines. Research results were documented in a report, which will be utilized for further and more efficient MIP production. Utilized UV/Vis spectroscopy and molecular adsorption techniques for research on a daily basis.

Biology/Chemistry Tutor. Assisted students in learning material through interesting and engaging discourse and sharing of fun and interesting stories. Able to interest students who otherwise believed topics to be uninteresting in areas as diverse as: introductory biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, marine biology, physics, and mathematics. Experienced in tutoring all ages from 9 to 25 years old. Has been tutoring scientific topics for six years total.

Crossmark Sales and Marketing, 2011-present.

Sales Associate Sold promoted items utilizing both information provided with the item and information derived from use of the item. Enthusiastic and energetic salesmen with a constantly happy and professional disposition. Performed repetitive tasks involved in food safety and sanitization. Maintained a detailed log of information relating to work experience every day. Able to allot time to certain activities in order to follow a strict schedule with very minimal supervisory interaction. Worked closely with a team of other sales associates to most efficiently accomplish tasks.
