2/1/04-10/20/06- Meritage Homes SR. Estimator
• As a Sr. Estimator for Meritage Homes, responsible for 200 plans some having 2-20 elevations. Estimating all material required to build 2500 sf to over 5000 sf luxury homes, including lumber packs, cornice packs, brick, interior finish. Maintained take offs in People Soft, (the new JD Edwards). Analyzed cost comps as to provide competitive pricing. Tracking, illustrating, and estimating custom changes, adding anywhere from 20 sf. up to 2000 sf. Maintained well over 1000 takeoffs.
7/01 to 2/1/04-U.S Home/Lennar Houston Division, Houston, Texas Sr. Estimator/Estimator
• As an estimator for Lennar, instrumental in the conversion in JD Edwards’s system from the G-Link and from the US Home standards to Lennar’s. Preparing and maintaining floor breaks and tile calculations in Auto Cad for the forty-four plans US Home would offer. Sending out bid packets, and receiving them preparing cost analysis to ensure the best vendor for the best price was being used. Residential Construction Estimator responsible for ensuring all take-offs master files was accurate and up to date. Priced all non-standard options that were requested by the customer to be added to their homes. As the only estimator while working US Home, interviewed possible new vendors, receiving bids, reviewing contracts, and doing price comparisons to ensuring we receive best service for best price, allowing for the company to remain competitive.
2/98 to 9/01 – US NAVY SUBTORPIMAPH Navsea Newport, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Facility Manager
• Ensured all facility equipment was in good condition so as to maintain a 120,000 sq ft explosive handling facility needed by command missions. Liaison, Quality Control, Safety representative between military and/or civilian contractors. Providing accurate material take offs, labor estimates and time lines using the CPM as to allow the activity to plan which projects can be completed within the allowed budget. Implemented a database system to track over 700 projects with military contractors as well as a number of $200k + projects with civilian contractors which tracked actual man-hours, and material cost thus making scheduling projects and maintaining with in budget easier.
3/82 – 2/98 – US NAVY, Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, Port Hueneme, CA and Gulfport MS. Project Supervisor / Sr. Estimator
• As Sr. Estimator, analyzed blueprints, and plans prepared by planning and estimating teams, both military and civilian; identified potential problems such as missing key phases requiring more materials, manpower and time thus creating accurate and workable results. C.E.C core would compete against public works and civilian contractors, thus causing our department to do hard bids to win the projects. We maintained an eighty percent win rate five percent above goal expectations. Most notible project was the Blue Angel Museum which originally was estimated at $900,000 including material manpower and equipment to build a ground up 800,000 sf. 3 story building. A team of non estimators were trained and put to the test. It was severely underestimated the project turned out to be a 3.4 BILLION dollar project that would take 1.3 years to build with a 30-60 man crew. As Builder Crew Chief built sidewalks, foundations, to finished interiors; including masonry construction, European construction, and roofing, projects ranging from 10K to 3M. In this position responsible for materials, manpower, man-hours, and time line for several different construction projects.
