Act as liaison between materials development, procurement, and regulatory

affairs to align strategic responsibilities for sustainable product

lines. Participate on cross-functional advanced concepts teams as well as

assist with raw material chemical reviews.

Select Accomplishments:

. Created a "horizon map" to provide a snapshot of the EHS drivers

suspected to affect the future product landscape. The sustainable

attribute horizons were developed after assessing the changing global

regulations, public perception, customer requirements (i.e. government

procurement favoring recycling/sustainable materials), raw material

feedstock supply competition, and energy consumption demands.

2007 - 2011 Advanced Research Chemist

TruSeal Technologies, Inc. Solon, Ohio

Responsible for formulation development, includes associated testing, of

pressure sensitive adhesives and rubber compounds. Develops experimental

designs, provides technical support to manufacturing, and maintains the

formula system. This development position, managing 1 technician, is also

responsible for methods development, validation activities, and EH&S

material review. The position also conducted competitive analysis to

identify landscape and compare/document performance against our product

offerings. Certain products were reverse engineered to assess whether

patent infringements existed. Worked closely with sales and manufacturing

to identify key product deliverables and determine next generation

products to expand, or replace, existing product family portfolio.

. Developed a resin/oil free pressure sensitive adhesive sealant for the

building products industry, increase fog pass rate 25%.

. 6-Sigma Green Belt improvement project = annual $350,000 "soft" OI

savings (based on prevention of loss of business)

. Analyzed competitor spacer product to match color and functionality

then modified existing product line so it could become a second source

to a nationally based customer thus creating a new opportunity to

introduce other product family item.

2006 - 2007 Formulation Optimization Technologist

Formula development of oil / water emulsions. Develops design of

experiment studies, conducts robustness experiments, participates in

cross-functional teams, and maintains the formula system. This position

is also responsible for methods development, validation activities, and

product/process development activities.

Responsibilities focused on developing design/development plans,

evaluating raw materials/components, developing emulsion formulas,

maintaining master formulas, writing specifications, determining test

methods, identifying acceptance criteria, overseeing process validation

activities (IOQ's, PQ's, etc.), and developing SOPs / process

instructions including the facilities Clean In Place, CIP, program

following Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, HACCP, concepts.

Responsibilities focused on evaluating facility permit applications while

preparing permit to install, permit to operate, Title V, and Synthetic

Minor permits. Other activities: determining rule applicability,

calculating emissions limitations, and conducting audits.

applicable NESHAPS requirements.

. Investigated poor dye out issue for a hair color product saving the

. Key contributor negotiating a three (3) year contract for calibration

of critical manufacturing equipment saving the company over $4,000

The responsibilities of this position were split between acting as the

QS9000 department representative and the traditional activities of a

development chemist. QS9000 activities focused on coordinating efforts to

review existing documentation, develop new system components, and

implement management system components. R&D activities included:

evaluating raw materials & alternate material sources, developing

specifications, participating in design reviews, evaluating product test

data, performing quality audits (internal and supplier), issuing supplier

quality problem reports, and developing corrective action plans. This

position also provided technical support to manufacturing facilities.
