Skills Profile

Communication Skills

Strong communication skills gained through liaising with colleagues, clients and market professionals. Negotiation and persuasion skills developed through being the middleman between the market and the client on a daily basis, and also previously on a personal entrepreneurial level within the music industry where I negotiated record deals, studio rates, publication of press releases and UK and international tours.

Organisation and Time Management

Strong organisational skills developed in current role where it is imperative to work to deadlines, solve ongoing problems and report to clients in a timely and efficient manner. Exceptional under pressure and good attention to detail displayed by a trade error rate of 0.003% in over 12,000 trades; a lot of these trades were placed from late 2008 onwards, following the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the beginning of the financial crisis, amid extremely volatile market conditions and rapid price movement.

Teamwork and Leadership

Teamwork developed through working regularly as part of a group, both on a local and national basis within existing employment. Leadership skills developed through delegation of work to other departments when a client requires problems and also on a personal level where I have regularly organised sports teams and social events.

Technical Skills

Competent in IT packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Experience in using investment management software packages such as JHC, Order Routing and ProQuote. Regular use of the internet for research and information.

Personal Interests

-I am a keen musician, having played guitar since I was 15, I started a band at University that began to do well on local, national and international levels. This took over my University studies as we were very ambitious and hungry for success, causing me to defer my University course when we got signed to a Management and PR company and then a Record Label in Japan. After parting with our management I became the manager of the band, managing to secure a tour of Japan and negotiating a single release with a UK label on our return. Throughout this time I remained in part-time employment until the band split in late 2007 and I became a full-time employee at TD Waterhouse. I didn't return to University.

-I have been involved in various Football teams since the age of seven and have recently started playing American Football.

-I occasionally help out with a football team my friend runs for children with learning difficulties and recently produced a record for the team to release on a small scale, selling to family, friends and the local community to help raise money for themselves.

-I also have a keen interest in aviation, I've had a fascination in fighter aircraft and attended air shows since I was a young boy. I hope to one day take some lessons and learn to fly.
