Assistant Manager Theta Machining

Responsibilities include the managing of 66 Team Members across 3 shifts to assure the daily goals for production (quantity, efficiency and PPM) are met. Daily numbers reported each day along with any issues (machine downtime, tooling problems and quality issues) to upper level management along with corrective actions if required.

March 2005 – February 2008 Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama Montgomery

Specialist / Machining Engineer

Responsible for daily tracking of down time in the Cylinder Block and Crankshaft machining lines with bi-weekly reviews presented to management on any issues and to provide countermeasures. Update and review of Block and Crankshaft Line Control Plans, Quality Check Sheets and PFMEA to assure compliance to TS16949. Manage spare parts for machines, gauges and automation. Responsible for tooling, machine and gauge issues. Conduct investigation in capital projects to reduce and improve machine processes. Conduct training for Team Members on any new process and/or gauge implementation. Conduct meetings with suppliers to continue improvement across the machining lines.

November 1999 – 2005 March Intermet Columbus Machining Columbus, Georgia

Senior Manufacturing/New Product Engineer

Lead engineer responsible for the startup of a small cell (6 machines) making Rear Knuckles at a production rate of 180 pair per day. Expanded cell two separate times to increase production rate to 1,050 pair per day (20 machines) while improving cycle times and part cost. Responsibilities included managing project timelines (Microsoft Project) and tracking project spending to maintain budget, design fixturing and tooling for new products and current process improvements using AutoCad, develop CNC programs for new products/prototypes, update and improve current programs, create and maintain process documentation in accordance with APQP and ensure FMEA’s and Control Plans are current and accurate for compliance to QS9000. Respond to all process related concerns expressed by the customer and suppliers (internal/external).Good exposure to Lean Manufacturing.

September 1997 – November 1999 Makino Mason, Ohio

Project Leader Applications Engineering

Was the project leader on a successful turnkey installation of 28 Horizontal Machining Centers to machine steering gear housing for a major automobile parts supplier using CP & CPK as signoff criteria for quality and equipment repeatability before shipment from Makino and after final installation. Responsible for project management to insure project success in terms of financial profitability, technical content and customer satisfaction and to provide executive management with documentation of project’s progress. Worked in conjunction with section head to select support staff (applications and contract engineers) and supervised a project staff of 8, ensuring cost-effective utilization of labor.

March 1992 – September 1997 PMI Food Equipment Group Hillsboro, Ohio

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Responsible for multiple Capital Project Requests (CPR’s) for new equipment (including fixturing, tooling and CNC programming), and the successful installation and run-off of each piece of equipment. Improved cycle times and part cost for a family of parts by reducing the required number of operations on the smallest part (5) and the largest part (12) to only two (2) operations. Other responsibilities were to research and develop plans and/or studies to ascertain feasibility of capital equipment purchases, expansion of facilities, plant layout changes/alterations and cost reductions. Coordinate and implement approved plans. Direct the efforts of less senior manufacturing engineers during new equipment run-off and capability studies, advise and assist other personnel assigned to the projects as to procedures and engineering requirements.
