Windspire, iPhone App for Vertical Wind Turbines. 2010 – 2011

Project Lead and Lead Developer –

This application is an iPhone based APP to support the selling of Windspire vertical axis wind turbines. Use your iPhone to check the windspeed at or near your home to determine the viability of purchase a Windspire vertical wind turbine and thus supplement your renewable energy needs. This used all aspects of the iPhone environment, including mapping, GPS, audio analysis and large data models.

Project Lead and Lead Developer –

Development and maintenance of in-house web based data management tools. Developed HTML, Ruby-on-Rails based SQL application for the full support and operation of full featured web-based application for multiple martial arts academies. All aspects of student attendance, progress, participation, grading and performance. Support for internal and external marketing and accounting, billing, collections and contract management and extra-curricular events.

Globe Wireless.com 1997 - 2001

Sr. Software Engineer.

Start up company in maritime telecommunications. Primary responsibilities in Email gateway development. These include gateways to and from a proprietary email system for connections to ESMTP, cc:Mail, and MS Exchange.

SMTP gateway required intricate use of RFCs governing ESMTP, MIME, and BinHex. MS Exchange gateway required Extensive use of C++ and MFC and MAPI 3.0.

All gateways connect to a Sybase data management using C++ and ct-lib.

Data Exchange Server: required extensive use of TCP/IP and Serial Modem communications, and intimate knowledge of a variety of email platforms (SMTP, cc:Mail, MS Mail, MS Exchange).

Special Project: Sent to Liverpool to oversee the integration of two disparate systems into one in order to combine the communications effectiveness of two leaders in the maritime community.

Orbit Software 1993 - 1997

Sr. Software Engineer.

Back Up 3000 and Back Up/XL. Primary responsibilities included project management of C++ based software development and Pascal/XL support in software maintenance. Low level access of primary operating system entities to enable hot backups with zero to no downtime. Required extensive use of HP’s Architected Interface with intricate background in Image database and all standard HP file types. Also, designed, supervised, and implemented the adjustment of established software from a flat file system to a hierarchical file system. Trained and lead personnel in C++ development and advanced development in back up support software designed for smart file retrieval.

Special Projects: translation of a flat file structure (i.e., MPE V) to a hierarchical file structure (i.e., POSIX) in all areas and all products of the company.
