Provides leadership and direction for the Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, sanitation and waste removal, Training and Pest Management activities of the EH&S Directorate. Directs a professional team encompassing a wide range of functions within EHS. Interviews, selects and place candidates into open positions. Issue discipline whenever required and recommend termination or contract non-renewal when appropriate. Plans the strategic direction of the Directorate, aligning it with the overall business plan and strategy of the U.S. Government. Develops and delivers weekly briefings. Maintains up-to-date information and knowledge on new developments in the areas of Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Pest Management. Performs other related duties as required. Provides overall management of safety (includes industrial hygiene and radiation safety) and environmental programs to ensure compliance, prevention, restoration, and natural and cultural resources management are met. Provides leadership and oversees the activities of 2 Department Managers and their programs to include Environmental, Pest Management, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, sanitation and waste removal, and Training.

Regularly interfaces with senior US Army environmental, engineering, and command personnel. Provides leadership and technical guidance in the areas of hazardous waste, hazardous materials, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), asbestos, spill planning, wastewater, drinking water, restoration, pollution prevention and medical waste management. Responsible for all aspects of hazardous material/waste handling, storage, sampling, characterization, transportation, and disposal to include interface with the Kuwaiti EPA. Reports directly to the Project Manager, President, and Area Support Group – Kuwait (ASG-KU) Commander on matters concerning HAZMAT spills/emergencies. Ensures that all ASG-KU contractor personnel follow the applicable standards and requirements of the U.S. Army, Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), and Kuwait Final Governing Standards. Supervises Environmental Branch Manager and provides guidance to environmental specialists and engineers as needed. Pest Management – Provides oversight and management for the ASG-KU Pest Management Program. Ensures that the program meets all requirements of the CSSC-K contract, US Army regulations, OEBGD, and the Final Governing Standards of Kuwait. Responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of the Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPMP). Oversees budget for the Directorate and approves each Department’s budget by analyzing daily, weekly, and monthly financial and operating reports.

From 2007- present: Served as the Chief of Environmental Health for a population of more than 38,000 personnel for both Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem. Collaborated with the Veterinarian to ensure a very high quality of meats and foods are imported. Developed and implemented new strategies, policies, and plans for the two military installations to ensure that the 19 facilities that we inspect monthly are up to Army standards as well as the Environmental Protection Agency standards. The section lead for a program that managed and facilitated critical problem solving. Developed, oversaw, coordinated, and conducted monthly group training to ensure that my subordinates were properly trained to complete any assigned task.

Coordinated with two separate Army Reserve Medical units out of our Command to formulate and establish great working relationships to create a good collaborative and successful program. From 1998 to 2006: As a Career Counselor for more than 10 U.S. Army installations, I managed multiple projects and programs. I was sent to Headquarters Department of the Army from Germany to negotiate with the Branch Managers to get reenlistment assignments for the Soldiers in our command. With my successful negotiations, our command had the highest retention rate in Europe, which made the recruiters job less stressful and most of all it saved the U.S. Army thousands of dollars. I developed and managed budgets and properties in excess of $100,000 with no flaws. As a Counselor in Georgia, I was sent to units in Maryland, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and several units in Georgia to give presentations on Army knowledge, benefits, and training seminars to the soldiers and their families to help retain our nation’s forces. These training visits lead to each unit retaining more than 100% of their assigned retention mission.
