Senior Designer, CS2100 Design Team Nortel, Richardson (1998-2009) –

Nortel Networks is the largest North America Switching company with annual revenue of $ 10B in 2008.

Unified Communication and Large Enterprise Designer

• Developed the software integration of Nortel system and Microsoft Office Communication Server System as part of the Unified Communication products using TR-87, SIP protocol.

• Prime author of Functional Specification.

• Enhanced the messaging capabilities between the Nortel Switching system and the intermediary Linux box that communicated with Microsoft Office Communication Servers.

• Set up SIPP and Nortel traffic boxes to ensure that Multi-messages are bundled correctly.

• Designed other Enterprise products such as terminals, LDAP access, Trunk testing using different languages including PROTEL, JAVA and C++ and on different platforms such as Nortel DMS, Windows, and Linux.

Coordinator for the Large Enterprise Nortel Design Lab

• Managed the Design Lab so that it can be used by internal and external customers across all functional groups for the Large Enterprise.

• Controlled IP resources such as configuring routers, managing IP addresses and Virtual LANs.

• Commissioned new server boxes, phones, communication equipments and making changes such as fiber interface from Megabit to Gigabits.

Network integrator - Integrated systems, re-designed and re-packaged for customers.

Trainer – Trained new hires including formal training or on the job training. I have given seminar introducing Nortel Enterprise to a University.

Senior Software Designer, Nortel Brampton Lab, Canada (1984-1998)

Code Owner of software subsystems – Prime owner of the software switching matrix which was used in all Nortel DMS switching systems. Participated in code reviews in a variety of platforms and approved software changes.

Verification Engineer – Performed software and hardware testing including developing test plans, carrying out the tests, updating test results and reporting using Mercury Quality System. This resulted in significant hardware and software changes and ensure that the product was robust and of high quality.

Hardware Reliability Engineer - Performed Hardware Reliability Testing including Thermal testing, Fault Insertion, Thermal Imaging, Electro Static Discharge and Voltage Testing.

Software Quality Engineer – Responsible for the Software Product Life Cycle of DMS system, the flagship of Nortel products.

CNCP Telecommunication as Project leader, International Standards (1983-1984 ) - Participated in developing CCITT standards especially in the X.400 Series recommendations with about 20 submissions.

Honeywell International as System Consultant (1982-1983 ) - Developed customized Freight Forwarding Systems at customer site and introduced Honeywell Distributed System Architecture.

Rockwell International as System Programmer (1975-1980 )- Developed Voice and Message Switching systems in U.S. Prime support for all Australian customers in Australia.
