Professional Experience

2007 - 2009 Construction Manager/Builder, Fidelis Signature Homes, Atlanta, GA

 Managed three communities, all custom homes priced from $500,000.

 Accountable for all operations from surveying {building location} site preparation. Handled the invoice approval and acceptance of work preformed.

 Directed all critical path scheduling, ordering of all materials, vendor negotiations, meetings with inspectors, and scheduling structural engineers.

 Responsible for design and structural changes, working with the buyers on their design needs. Negotiated with buyers through closing.

 Performed OSHA safety compliance meetings for the purpose of accident risk mitigation. Managed the training of superintendents and personnel.

 Changed the company’s approach to the market, taking it from a standard efficiency built design, to “EARTH CRAFT/ ENERGY STAR---LEED ” standards.

2004 - 2006 Project Manager/Builder, Hedgewood Properties, Cumming, Georgia.

 Worked directly with the developers of SERENBE, a 900-acre planned “sustainable community” of mixed- use design. Directed the construction of town homes and detached single-family customs, retail, and “multi-use.”

 Responsible for the entire scope of projects, including profitability, contractor negotiation, vendor selection and pricing.

 Approved invoicing of all vendors, and secured the building permit, Certificate of Occupancy, and warranty work.

 Meeting with owners or prospects for the purpose of pricing, acceptance of contract or offer, change orders, design modifications and addendums to contracts.

 Constructed both private homes of owners/developers of SERENBE. Constructed $2 million commercial / residential buildings.

1985 - 2004 President,, Geer & Weaver Properties, Inc., Atlanta, GA for 19 years

 Built spec and custom homes ranging from $170,000 to $700,000 in and around Atlanta, Georgia. From 1996 to 2004, built strictly “design build” custom homes on the client’s property ranging from $475,000 to $2.6 million, two of which were featured in local design magazines.

 Oversaw all major design and structural changes without the aid of an architect or engineer.

 Specialized in highly energy efficient construction utilizing a “closed envelope” design with insulated slabs and hydro thermally heated floors, etc.

 Managed entire scope of constructing a home; start to finish: Scheduling of contractors, site preparation, ordering of materials, negotiation of pricing, invoice approval, quality control, homeowner orientation, and warranty. During this time, I became the builder of the personal home of Stan Topal {of Stan Topal Design in Atlanta, Georgia.}

1981 - 1984 Assistant Superintendent, Merritt Properties, Marietta, GA

 Assisted the superintendent of residential town homes.

1977 - 1981 Assistant Store Manager, The Home Depot, Atlanta, GA

 Worked at Home Depot in Marietta while in High School. After graduation was promoted to assistant store manager by company President Arthur Blank at the age of 20 (the youngest manager in the co). Transferred to South Florida to open new stores in South Dade County, Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami.
