Company-wide expert across all facets of Mission Assurance (MA) for a major aerospace manufacturer with 3,000 employees and $700 million in annual revenue. Decision maker regarding how and when to utilize MA principles and activities. Represented MA in independent gate reviews; guided and led highly skilled, cross-functional teams in the design, development, and launch of solutions and processes; and provided significant on-going support to the QMS.

* Proactively drove MA program effectiveness through collaboration with program directors/managers and assigned MA personnel. Engaged in the resolution of program issues, when necessary.

Both positions reported to the Vice President of MA. The former included a staff of 3 functional managers and a subordinate staff of 50 MA Managers and Reliability/EEE Parts Engineers. The latter was as a functional manager over a staff of 12 MA Managers. Established and managed objectives and strategies; hired, motivated, and mentored, and trained employees; allocated staff resources; managed budgets; administered salary; provided performance feedback; and was the focal point for new business opportunities.

* Transformed an under-achieving department and resolved long-standing problems while building morale and motivation. This outcome contributed to the winning of the Ball Aerospace Manager of the Year award.

* Championed the derivation of Reliability Engineering and MA Manager Handbooks to define roles and responsibilities across program life cycle phases; recognized by customers and as an industry-best practice.

* Directed the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives; as many as 5 per year.

Program Product Assurance Manager (1997-2004)

Managed the development and implementation of the Product Assurance (PA) element on 10 high-profile programs. PA budget and team size varied with values as high as $6M and 15 individuals per program, respectively. Prepared plans; ensured PA requirements enforcement and task completion assurance; evaluated, selected and controlled suppliers; chaired coordination meetings and FRBs; supported program reviews via readiness concurrence and presentation; led PA risk management efforts; and performed cost account management responsibilities.
