PROJECT EXPERIENCE:
Summer Project Trainee Summer 2010
Global Logic, Nagpur, India
Started work on the project ‘Indoor positioning using video surveillance infrastructure’ under the Global
Academic Program of Global Logic Inc.
Performed an extensive literature survey of the existing machine vision based systems that can be employed for
this purpose and employed a number plate reading based system in MATLAB.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS:
Title: Video Summarization Fall 2011
Designed a mechanism to extract the main scenes from a given video to produce an easily interpreted synopsis.
Performed analysis of various shots in Java on the basis of the color, motion and audio levels of the shots and
then a metric was developed to choose the most important shots.
Title: Indoor positioning using video surveillance infrastructure May 2010 – May 2011
Continued the Global Logic sponsored project as the senior year thesis project
Designed a barcode based system in OpenCV for localization of people/objects in an indoor environment.
The barcodes are read by cameras and 3D pose estimation of the barcode is performed for localizing the object.
Title: Optical Character Recognition (O.C.R.) Fall 2011
Developed an O.C.R. system for a set of given characters using a decision tree based approach trained to read
both digits and alphabets and applied it to the real world problem of car number plate recognition.
Title: Texture classification and segmentation Fall 2011
Implemented k-nearest neighbors and k-means clustering algorithms for classification and segmentation of
various texture templates using Laws’ microstructures.
Title: Isolated Digit Recognition using Hidden Markov Model
Implemented an isolated digit recognition system in MATLAB using Kevin Murphy’s Hidden Markov Model
(H.M.M.) toolbox. Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) and their first and second order differences
were used as features for the training and testing system.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
All India Rank 17 in Mathematics Talent Search Examination conducted by A.M.T.I. in 2007
Awarded the prestigious National Talent Search Scholarship by the H.R.Devpt. Ministry of, Govt. of India.
Grader for the course Multimedia Systems Design in the Spring 2012 semester.
Having a keen interest and skills in Digital Photography and editing in last 4 years.
Volunteered as a teacher for ‘Friends For Care’, an NGO in India, that serves to uplift the underprivileged
children.
