GEOLOGIST

May 2012 – Present. FSA Exploration Inc., Helena, Montana. Provide geological services for environmental investigations, mineral exploration and the petroleum industry. Services provided: field mapping and sampling, contractor oversight, development of work plans and cost estimates, data analysis, and recommendation reports.

GEOLOGIST/PROJECT MANAGER

September 2007 – May 2012. Montana Department of Natural Resources, Helena, Montana. Review and research historical groundwater data, regional and local geology, dam construction design and borelog data to develop hydrogeologic analyses for state owned dams. Also perform project coordination for rehabilitation projects, develop grant applications and oversee grant reporting and funding. Field work consists of construction oversight, drilling oversight, installation of automated monitoring systems, and seepage monitoring.

GEOLOGIST/PROJECT MANAGER

May 2000 – August 2007. Tetra Tech EM Inc., Helena, Montana. Performed project work on a variety of projects including; remedial investigations for the Navy, the Ten Mile Creek Superfund Investigation in Rimini, Montana, the Senate Anthrax Cleanup in Washington, D.C., and the Hurricane Katrina Response in New Orleans, Louisiana and Gulfport, Mississippi. Duties also include project management for the LUST Trust contract and field oversight on mine reclamation projects. Work involved performing data analysis, report writing, regulatory liaison, subcontractor procurement and field oversight of drilling and sampling activities, along with developing sampling and analysis plans, cost estimates, statements of work, and health and safety plans.

GEOLOGIST

June 1996 – May 2000. Newmont Exploration Limited, Fairbanks, Alaska. Worked on reconnaissance projects defining gold mineralization in metamorphic terrains. Duties included geologic research, project planning, budget development, organizing field efforts, training field crews, geologic mapping and sampling, overseeing core and reverse circulation drilling, logging drill holes, data analysis, obtaining subcontractors, preparing Corps of Engineers and State of Alaska environmental permits, and developing area specific health and safety plans. Also worked on the True North gold deposit, which included core and chip logging, overseeing drill rig operations, road building, and reclamation of drill roads and pads. Also assisted in deposit modeling which included data from over 700 drill holes.

GEOLOGIST/PROJECT MANAGER

April 1994 – June 1996. Tetra Tech Inc., Helena, Montana. Perform project management, field activities, and report development for hydrogeologic investigations. Duties included developing cost estimates, contracts, work plans, oversight and performance of field work, developing final reports, regulatory liaison, and general project management. Investigations focused on petroleum distribution sites and abandoned mine sites. Remediations implemented included vapor extraction, sparging and groundwater pump and treat.

PROJECT MANAGER/ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

August 1993 – April 1994. State of Montana, Superfund Program, Helena, Montana. Project manager for three Superfund sites in the state of Montana. Performed State oversight at the Streamside Tailings Silver Bow Creek site in Butte, the Asarco Smelter site in East Helena, and the Idaho Pole site in Bozeman. Work included oversight of Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments, Remedial Design and Remedial Cleanup activities. Integrated work with various State agencies and took part in negotiations between the EPA and responsible parties. Sites involved metals, PCP, PCBs, PAHs, creosote and lighter end hydrocarbon contamination. Remediations involved a variety of techniques including soil flushing, vapor extraction, bioremediation, excavation and disposal, chemical stabilization, and revegetation.

ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST/CASE MANAGER

February 1992 – August 1993. State of Montana, UST Program, Helena, Montana. Performed oversight of remedial investigations and cleanups at petroleum storage tank leak sites. Work included review of work plans and investigative reports for technical comments and to determine State Department of Health objectives. Aided installer/removers with initial response to leaks and performed field activities such as soil and water sampling, well installations, and vapor surveys at non-commercial activities.

GEOLOGIST

January 1989 – January 1992. Acheron Inc., Winthrop, Maine. Performed project manager duties at industrial and petroleum waste sites. Developed cost estimates, work plans, schedules and final reports for hydrogeologic investigations. Supervised drilling and installation of monitoring wells at hazardous waste sites. Interpreted data, developed geologic cross-sections, groundwater contour maps and flow nets. Work included Phase I site assessments involving historical research, site reconnaissance, interpretation of subsurface conditions and writing final reports. Also performed wave run-up modeling for FEMA to determine coastal flood zones for 10, 50, and 100 year storm events.

GEOLOGIST

February 1988 – December 1988. Newmont Exploration Limited, Elko, Nevada. Worked as a reconnaissance geologist in the exploration of gold deposits. Worked included district wide geologic compilations, on-site geologic mapping and sampling, and evaluations of properties for possible acquisition. Also supervised field crews for geochemical sampling and drilling.

SURVEYOR

November 1987 – January 1988. Pfanner and Associates, Niantic, Connecticut. Worked on field crew performing mortgage, property boundary, and construction surveys. Also researched town halls for tax maps and land deeds to determine landowners, property boundaries, easements and rights-of-way.

GEOLOGIST

June 1987 – November 1987. Ground Water Inc., Middletown, Connecticut. Involved in performing site assessments for real estate transfers. Worked included file searches at the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, geologic, hydrogeologic, and historical research, facture trace analysis, supervising drilling and installation of monitoring wells, obtaining groundwater samples, and soil samples, interpreting analytical results and writing final reports with conclusions and recommendations.
